III. Summary of the OJT Experience

On the Job Training or Practicum is a compulsory on most schools in the world. It is a

way to apply and to utilize the knowledge learned from the past. It is believed that
learning within the borders of the school could be excellent if applied in the real
world of work. On the Job Training or Practicum is also a way to let students be ready
on the real world of work, exposing them on the possibilities and letting them
experience how it feels when working. I started my On the Job Training at Silverlake
Symmetri (Philippines) Enterprise Inc. on November 19, 2018 that I would be
reported to My Supervisor Sir Rommel Faustino. In the very first day of my training,
I was introduced right away with my co-workers, to our supervisor, to the senior IT
and to the working station. They thought us on to handle small problem to the agents
and also what they to everyday like supporting agents, installments, deployments a pc
and changing plan.
In this training I’ve learned so much on how to handle either small or big problem
that the agents have and also I learned to communicate to the other employee and to
the big boss of the company and respect them always. I also learned to handle my
time while studying and do my training at first it is really hard because my body
seems to give up in the first week of my training because of tiredness and sometimes I
forgot that I have school homework to do, and of course I prioritize both my studying
and my training I learn how to handle it both. In this training I learn a lot about
computer and the things that I didn’t know especially in troubleshooting some errors.
I learn so much in hardware and in software in hardware is like set-upping the pc and
troubleshooting to the agents that need our support with my co-ojt and I also
troubleshoot in the data center while in software is how to change the plan, reimaging
the computers and software installation and also how to format pc, deploying the pc
of the agents. And the good thing is I can use this training that I have in school so
before the teacher thought I already know it because our senior manager thought us to
do it and they said that it can help us in our subject in school. In everyday that I do
training it pays a lot of experience that I know now in the last three months in the
company. And I thankfully that I had experience in that company and to the senior IT
that thought us to do things better. And this experience that I have now can help me
in the future. In my trainee days in the Silverlake Symmetri is worth it because I
experience a lot of things that it did not experience in my life before like supporting
issue in the agents and troubleshoot to the data center where all the connections of the
company based are in there. And also I experience to configure IP address in the port
of the LAN cable and if it is not working where going to fix it in the data center, and I
also experience a very thought schedule that I have and also to handle tiredness in
school after the training. I can say that I was lucky enough that I get to decide what
time to come to training or leave because it helps me a lot not to be stress because it is
too traffic so I will leave early in the morning to our house. Soon enough my body
accept it and I use to it until know that I have no training at all. In my side I’m very
lucky to be a part of that company because I’ve experience so many things that I can
apply in the near future that I have. And I also experience to tardy sometimes and
urgently go because of my requirements in school I finish it first before I go to the
company and thanks to god our supervisor is so kind that he said it is okay to be late
if the cause is about the school, and because of that I idolize my supervisor because
he only want us to know more and better things for us. And I experience to
communicate to other ojt’s in that company whether if where not going in the same
school they are very kind and they also help us to the things that we didn’t know. I’m
very happy to be a part of that company and also to meet a professional people,
employee, supervisors and etc.,. I am thankful to my supervisor because he teaches us
a lot about anything that we will do, he will explain first the objective of the task that
we will do before starting it. He always asking what we want to learn because he
wants us to learn a lot in our training. He said that we had a great deal to help the
company. I learn a lot of things in my OJT, some of it I adopt and apply to myself
and some of it helps develop my skills and enhance my knowledge. I was so thankful
that I have my OJT in this office. I learn to be more patient in every task that given to
me, to be nice and humble in every person I interact and most of all to love my work.
Nothing beats experience as the perfect learning tool. This On-the-Job Training
served as my stepping stone to pursue my dream. This training gave me an inspiration
to be more serious and focused in studying. I was encouraged to do more efforts in
my studies. Despite the short period of my training, it was still a very meaningful one.
The training enriched my confidence created a foundation of being a good employee
 someday. The training made me realize that it is really good to know what you’re
doing and to love it. As a student, what I can do for now is to learn whatever I can in
school, be inspired love the path I am taking, and do my best in everything I do, with
positive outlook in mind. I realized that I should be more focused in school and do
everything heartily and with all that I can. It is also very warm to the heart to know
that you have accomplished something and even warmer when there are people who
are so proud of what you have done and I felt this feeling during my On-the-Job
Training. It inspired me to be more determined and competitive in everything that I
doing my daily life as a student today and as a professional someday. My On-the-Job
Training is very helpful and will very helpful to me as I continue to take my journey
as fourth year student in the field of Information Technology. It really gave me a taste
of the real world a sight of what lies after I graduate.

IV. Assessment of the OJT/Practicum Program

A. New knowledge, attitudes, and skills acquired

I experience and learned through my OJT in the Silverlake Symmetri. First thing I
learned in the company is to make the task easier and done as soon as possible. I
learned how to Re-image a laptop, how to install oracle 10gR1,10gR2,11gR1,11gR2
and 12c, how to re-domain and re-name a laptop, how to install printer machine, and
how to make a new connection in the server room to the machines. My attitudes are
still the same when i still don’t start in the company. But when I start in the company,
I acquired new attitudes. To be punctual in the corporate world is very important, I
acquired the punctuality. Professionalism is one attitude I acquired, respecting my
superiors very important and giving my best at work. I acquired new skills in while
I’m in the internship. I improve my communication skills, verbal and non-verbal. I
learned how to send email with reports. The training inside the company is learning
experience each day. I was able to understand that everything that was thought inside
the school can be a tool that can be used in future career. As I was working as a
trainee at Silverlake Symmetri I learned to become a hard-working person. Time to
complete the output product is not important but the quality. I also learned to follow
the instructions as what the superior said and to accept opinion that they suggested. At
the school being late is better than absent. But as what I learned being absent is better
than being late. Being absent can be a cause of emergency situations like sickness
unpredicted travels and phenomena while being late is a cause of misbehavior and
unable to manage the time. lastly I learned that on-the-job training is not just only a
subject to be passed or a requirement to be completed but on-the-job training is an
opportunity to show what skills, talents and techniques that the student learned from
the school and also an opportunity to experience the life outside the campus, serving
companies like a professional on the field of the students
