PROGRAMME: NAME :
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
COURSEWORK OBJECTIVES:
Students should be able to
1. Understand the concepts and inter-relationships among the KBSR Mathematics
concepts.
2. Produce an effective lesson plan with a suitable format.
3. Plan effective teaching and learning activities incorporating appropriate resources,
approaches and strategies.
4. Apply the teaching and learning materials during micro-teaching.
PROJECT (50%)
Task 1 and Task 2 should be completed in groups of 2 – 3.
Task 1: Prepare a concept map for one of the learning areas in KBSR Mathematics.
Sub-tasks
(i) Examine the KBSR Mathematics Curriculum Specifications for your selected topic from
Year 1 to Year 6.
(ii) Summarize the learning outcomes of one selected learning area in KBSR
Mathematics.
(iii) Prepare a concept map to show the relationship between the summarized learning
outcomes.
Task 2: Prepare a teacher’s resource kit for a selected learning outcome in your
selected topic.
Sub-tasks
(i) Select one learning outcome from your concept map prepared in Task 1.
(ii) Prepare a resource kit that include the following:
Stationeries – scissors, cutter, pencil, colour pencil, etc
Learning Materials – 3 set of items (Teaching Basic Concept, Enrichment Activity,
and Remedial Activity – 1 set of items for each purpose)
One sample activity for each set of item (Teaching Basic Concept, Enrichment
Activity, and Remedial Activity)
All materials should fit into an A4 paper box (20cm 20 cm 30cm)
Task 3: Try out the learning materials of your resource kit to a group of pupils.
Sub-tasks
(i) Try out your sample activities during micro-teaching.
(ii) Write a brief report on your trial out.
(iii) Reflect on the effectiveness of your resource kit.
(iv) Suggest ways to improve your learning materials and sample activities.
* Each member of the groups must try out one sample activity and write a report, reflection
and suggestion individually. Discussions are encouraged in preparing the writing. Please
write the name of the person who prepares the writing clearly.
A GOOD ASSIGNMENT SHOULD MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
1. Summary of learning outcomes which is complete, organized and written in detail.
2. An organized, creative and complete concept map of a selected topic.
3. There should be 3 sets of learning materials which are prepared for teaching basic
concept, enrichment activity and remedial activity. The items prepared should be
creative, neat and practical.
4. Sample activities should be interesting, creative and practical.
5. The trial-out report should be complete with evidences, observation notes and
analysis.
6. An in-depth reflection on the effectiveness of the use of the resource kit.
7. Constructive and creative suggestions on how to improve the learning materials and
sample activities.
MARKING CRITERIA
The assignment will be marked based on the marking criteria set for this assignment.
