a. Answer: The presenter’s 7th grade World Geography students often struggled to
empathize and engage with historical figures and events, often saying, “Why do
we need to know this, this person died two thousand years ago”. His students
struggled to understand the social constructs of people whose lives are different
from theirs; in the past and present and culturally. Through examining current
research and practices, the presenter wanted to determine if the use of historical
empathy and inquiry based instruction through role playing simulations utilizing
