PROJECT NIETO GARCIA, MARTA

Working on natural sciences

and technology GRADES: THIRD TO FIFTH GRADE

Frog metamorphosis stages DIFFICULTY: INTERMEDIATE

Natural sciences project worksheet: Learn about the frog life cycle.

OBJECTIVES:

To explore the knowledge about the frog life cycle, from its beginning
until its adult life.

To create and programme a tadpole lego model, and afterwards, an adult

one.

To document the changing characteristics in the model, through the

different stages in a frog life cycle.

WARM-UP ACTIVITIES:

Questions:

1) Which are the different physical characteristics between a tadpole

and an adult frog?

2) Do you think frogs live in the same habitat when they are tadpoles
and adults?

3) What do you know about the frog metamorphosis?

STEP 1: Use the bricks given to
create the tadpole model.
Follow the steps on the I-pad. It is
really important to make sure you
are following the steps and using
the correct pieces because the
result will not be accurate if steps
are not followed appropriately.

STEP 2: Once you have done your

tadpole, it is time to programme it. You
need to programme the tadpole in its
habitat. To do it, you need to follow
the specific steps that are shown on
the screen as it is shown on the top
right part of the screen.

STEP 3: Afterwards, you need to make

the changes to convert the tadpole
into an adult frog.
Considerations must be done such as:
1) Changes on the physical
aspects.
2) Change on its movements.
3) Changes on its behaviour trying
to imitate an adult frog.
It is important to take into
consideration that metamorphosis
occurs also due to environment

changes.

STEP 5. You need to follow the steps

provided by the application and adding
bricks, your tadpole will become a frog
with the ability to walk and move by
itself.
After, you need to programme the
movements so the frog can walk.
