LEARNING OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
i. Produce a plan or draft of two paragraphs or more of an
informal letter and modify it by changing at least 10 out of
15 subject and object pronouns.

i. PRE-LESSON :  Pupils list down at least 3 gratitude expressions (eg. Thank you)
ii. LESSON :  Teacher provides 2 examples of an incomplete reply letter
DEVELOPMENT expressing gratitude. (Sample A and B)
 In pairs, pupils read the letters.
 Teacher asks pupils to compare and state the differences
between 2 samples.
 In pairs, pupils modify sample B by changing at least 10 out of 15
subject and object pronouns and rewriting it.
 Pupils compare their answers with each other and rewrite if
errors are found.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Pupils complete the letter with modified subject and object
pronouns by writing the final two paragraphs of the reply letter.

nouns into pronouns.

 Pupils peer-check their friends’ work respectively.
 Teacher gives out the actual text with the correct pronouns and
pupils check their answers as a whole class.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Pupils write an informal letter to a friend by using at least 5
subject pronouns and object pronouns on a birthday party.

naming ceremony by writing 3 sentences about it
independently.
ii. Organize and sequence the events during the ceremony.
iii. Spell written words with moderate accuracy by checking
the spelling of 5 words from the journal.

i. PRE-LESSON :  Teacher asks pupils about ceremonies that they know.
 Pupils take turns to write the ceremony on the whiteboard.
ii. LESSON :  Pupils read a given journal and sequence the events during the

 Pupils then explain the content by writing 3 sentences about it
independently.
 Teacher provides feedback on the written sentences.
 Pupils work in groups to write 5 sentences about one ceremony
that they have agreed on.
 Pupils paste their work on the board and each group takes turns
to spellcheck their friends’ writing.
 Pupils rewrite their work if necessary.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Each group select 5 words from their writing and conduct a
spelling game with their friends.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
i. Explain at least 3 significant festivals in Malaysia based on
the short passage given.
ii. Organize and sequence ideas by including at least 3
important information in the poster on a festival they have
created.
iii. Spell written words in their poster with moderate accuracy
by having their peers spellcheck the posters.

i. PRE-LESSON :  Pupils respond to pictures displayed by the teacher.
ii. LESSON :  Pupils read the short passage given by teacher about 3 main
DEVELOPMENT festivals celebrated in Malaysia.
 Pupils list down at least 3 significant aspects each on the 3 main
festivals in Malaysia.
 In the same group, pupils come up with a poster to invite people
for an ‘open house’.
 They need to include the information on the open house as well
as the ones listed earlier and sequence them in a suitable
manner.
 Pupils could refer to the sample of poster provided by the
teacher.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Each group takes turns to display the poster while the others
spellcheck the words used in the poster.
 Each group needs to extract 3 jargons used for each specific
festival.
