Pyramid of Hate

Instructions:​ Below is the Anti-Defamation League’s Pyramid of Hate. This pyramid details the
stages of progression from having a biased opinion about someone to genocide. First, read the
stages out loud with your partner. Discuss each level’s trait with your partner. What do you
notice about the progression to the next level? How does this relate to what we have already
learned (think about the ideas of propaganda, the Armenian Genocide, and the idea of the
bystander effect)?

Now that you have discussed each stage with your partner, write at least one thought, one
question, and one epiphany you have for each stage. Tie it all together at the end for the big
picture idea.

Road Map to Genocide​ - ​Next you will take the ideas you learned about in the
“Pyramid of Hate” and the TQEs you came up with and create a “Road Map to
Genocide.” You are to organize the information to make sense for you. This is similar to
a mind map, but can be drawn out however you would like.
