SEMINAR OBJECTIVES

Rice Partners Pvt. Limited (RPL), established in 2011, has set up new trends in paddy
procurement and rice export. It is a social impact business that works closely with thousands
of Basmati growers in Punjab, to equip them with the best crop production technologies
for enhanced paddy yields, farm income and livelihoods through its unique Contract
Rice Farming Program (CRFP). The RPL, in cooperation with the MARS, Foods, SDC, and
Helvetas, Pakistan is organizing a one-day seminar on water productivity and sustainable rice
production at Lahore, with the following objectives:

 Understand the impact of challenges like Climate Change, Aflatoxins & Water Scarcity on national
rice food security

 Share progress and learn from the experience of the RPL model Contract Farming Programme

 Develop collaborative multi-stakeholder action plan for strengthening Sustainable Rice Value
Chain

Participants and Approach

The workshop was attended by 88 participants representing Government officials fro of

Pakistan, Government of the Punjab, Academia, Private Sector (Rice Mills), International
Non-Government Organizations (INGOs), Electronic and Print Media besides representatives
from the Mars Food, HELVETAS Swiss Inter-cooperation, and the Delegation of Netherlands
