Narrative Report on
First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED)
February 21, 2019

In conjunction with the celebration of the 16th High School Day, this school also participated on
the First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on February 21, 2019 at 7: 30 in
the morning relative to DepEd Memorandum dated January 14, 2019 that all DepEd offices and
schools shall participate on the latter.

To boost disaster awareness and preparedness among learners and staff, the drill had started
with a dissemination of information about the occurrence of earthquake as well as the need to carry
out the preparation by the Head Teacher-V & Officer In-charge, Mrs. Leyme V. Gonzales.

Upon hearing the alarm, learners and staff started to seek shelter and protect themselves
wherever they were situated. Majority executed the proper action and response on the duck, cover
and hold as the initial and most important thing to do whenever earthquake happens.

During interruption period, everybody started to move out from the classrooms to the school
ground, designated as evacuation area. As they went out, they walked faster than the normal walked
they had as they were covering their heads.

Everybody remains in the evacuation area as the advisers checked and had the head count
to know if there were sustained injuries. Members of the School Disaster Risk Reduction
Management (SDRRM) Team and Bulilit Emergency Rescue (BERT) Team immediately responded
to the injured and gave first-aid.
 After the evaluation and the leader gave the ‘ALL CLEAR SIGNAL’, indicated the termination
of the earthquake drill. The 925 students and 30 faculty members together with the school head
successfully returned to the gymnasium where the Opening Program and the Gawad Parangal in
celebration with the High School Day was commenced.
