TEST 4A
My day at school
Hi!
My name is Steve and I’m 13 years old. I go to “junior high”, also known as middle
school here. My school, Twelve Corners Middle School or TCMS, is located in the town
of Brighton, a suburb of Rochester, New York. It has approximately 900 students.
I’m in the 7th grade. I learn English, Math, Science, Social Studies (American
History), Spanish, Health, Orchestra, and Technology. I’m good at Social Studies but, to
be honest, I’m not so great at Technology. I also enjoy Science, but I’m not keen on
Spanish. School starts at about 7:45 and ends at 2:06 for people who don’t stay after
school. We just have five minute breaks between each class.
The kids here are 10–14 years old and we have 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th
grade. We attend school five days a week, from Monday to Friday, but we have
Saturday and Sunday off. I go to school on the bus and it’s just a few miles away from
my house. We have lunch at our school and I like lunches there.
In my school, we don’t wear uniforms. We just wear anything that we choose to
wear. However, for sports, we get team uniforms for the town of Brighton, where I
live. We don’t really have “Ceremonies”, but we have assemblies at times.
We have clubs after school, but they are just for different interests and not for
helping students with their homework. However, if you need help, you can just stay
after school with a teacher.

What we like about our school
Dale
I adore my Maths teacher. She knows everything about numbers and I can ask her
anything. I like doing calculations, geometry and algebra and the fantastic projects that we
carry out. Sometimes we take part in interschool Maths competitions. That’s an interesting
experience. At the moment we’re studying Geometry, all those angles and calculations are
fascinating. I love the activities our school has to offer, like football and rugby. Last year I
was part of the rugby team and we won almost all our games.
Christine
In my school at the moment, there’s a super competition that tests our dancing skills,
called So you think you can dance. All you have to do is create a dance routine to
your favourite music. I must say that I like my school very much. I’m an excellent
student, but if there is one subject that I don’t really like, it’s Geography. I have a lot of
difficulty finding countries on maps!
Chase
I hate homework and studying, but I like going to school to be with my pals. I love the
extracurricular activities because there’s no homework. I practise football and tennis
after my lessons. I started playing football four years ago. It’s a lot of fun. I’m good at
football and I won two medals last year. My football idol is Cristiano Ronaldo. I know
he’s not British, but he’s the greatest player ever.
Melanie
Drama is my favourite subject at school. In drama classes you can become someone
else which is a lot of fun. This is my childhood fantasy. I want to become an
international actress and star with Taylor Lautner. My drama teacher is really sweet. I
hate Spanish because I don’t understand it and it’s really boring. I also don’t like
sports.

the false ones.
