DARYL PATRICK HARRIS

August 15, 2010

Mr. Paul Richardson

Sr. Vice President of
Human Resources
ESPN, Inc.
ESPN Plaza
935 Middle Street
Bristol, Connecticut 06010

Dear Mr. Richardson:

Please accept the enclosed resumes in application for the position of Vice President of Diversity and
Work/Life with your company. It is with great honor and humility that I make this application. I have
admired the work of ESPN for many years, and am very excited to know that ESPN chooses to make
workforce diversity a corporate priority.
As you will see from my resume I have extensive experience in human resources administration, minority
recruitment and retention, and corporate policy development. I have worked in several human resources
capacities with several different companies and have demonstrated a boundless commitment to workforce
diversity, and hold a proven record of success in increasing minority presence and minimizing employee
grievances and complaints. I have created and implemented in-house employee dispute resolution programs
to aid in the swift and equitable resolution of employee/management disputes, and have developed and
modified numerous company policies to prevent such disputes from initially arising.
Additionally, as a licensed and practicing attorney and corporate consultant, I have successfully represented
and advised multiple executives and chief diversity officers on matters of Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission compliance, standards, and protocols; and federal labor and employment laws. I have
effectively litigated and mediated over 50 employee discrimination and/or harassment suits and have
extensive knowledge of the federal Family Medical Leave and the Fair Labor Standards Acts. I have
conducted bi-annual client seminars on workforce diversity and workplace tolerance for the past three years.
Along with my legal and executive experience, I also chair the Minority Recruitment and Retention Board
for the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Justice Sciences Department, and sit on the Board of
Directors for the nation’s premier health education consulting firm.
My varied experience in business administration, executive management, and corporate law provides me
with the unique and valuable ability to adapt to any corporate environment and address a wide variety of
company issues. I have chosen to make corporate diversity both a professional and personal commitment,
and I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss how this commitment, and the knowledge and
experience that accompanies it, would benefit ESPN. I am confident in my ability to become an asset to your
organization. Thank you for your time and consideration, I look forward to hearing from your soon.

Sincerely,
Daryl Patrick Harris
