Melati is an Indonesian. She is a Javanese. She was born in Solo, Central Java 15 years ago but now she
lives in Jakarta. Her father was from Solo but her mother was from Jogjakarta and spent her childhood in
Jakarta too.
Melati’s friend Asep is from Bandung. He is a Sundanese while Ketut is a Balinese. Some of Melati’s
friends are from Padang, Medan, Ujung Padang, and Ambon. They came from many regions and
consisted of different ethnics. Nevertheless all of them are Indonesia People.
Melati’s father is a businessman who owns a travel agent. Some of his friends are foreigners. Mrs.
Nagasaki and her husband are Japanese, they come from Japan. Mr. Martin is from Canada, he is a
Canadian and his language is English. Mr. Lee is from China he is a Chinese and his native language is
Chinese. All of them can speak English very well so they can communicate among them easily.
