Rationale:

Professionalization of teaching is viewed as the ruse to win teachers over striving

for and achieving the state purposes. Hence, new teachers entering government’s educator’s
flock are expected to be prepared not only academically but legally as well.
Pre-service readiness indicators include not only understanding of the inherent
knowledge base nature but on educational commitments teachers should have. This is the
primary task of teacher education institutions of the country in order to produce socially
efficient, productive worker, and an individual who can compete globally.
Responsive to this role, the Teacher Education Department of the University
initiates a scheme of refreshing Teacher Education students of what they have acquired in the 4-
year training and at the same time orients them on the rigor of the present mechanics in the
conduct and taking of the Licensure Examination parallel CHED CMO 30 s. of 2004.
This refresher activity forms part of ELECTIVES 1, 2, and 3 where the students are
supposed to enroll during the second semester of the school year, and expectedly their
performance is reflected in the Official Transcript of Records.

ACTION STEPS IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT:

1. PARTICIPANTS

During the previous years, the number participants on this activity have been
found to be the reason why Review Masters could hardly manage review activities.
All Teacher Education students then, was then merged in a single venue which was
the University Gymnasium. With the repair of the Gymnasium, coupled with the class
management issues, this year’s review masters proposed another scheme. All
students will grouped into three classes. This composition is manageable and students
could be attended on this arrangement. Grouping will be homogenous considering
their GPA from first year to fourth year. This has been conceived with the hope of
raising the passing percentage and hopefully nurture topnotchers.

2. ORIENTATION OF REVIEW MASTERS

This will be conducted to make sure that review masters are informed of the
different skills and competencies included in the licensure examination and to
give them the details on how the endeavor will be undertaken. These are taken
from the LET syllabus distributed by PRC.

3. PREPARATION OF REVIEW OUTLINES, AND HANDOUTS

To make sure that review masters are in the correct direction they will be
requested to submit an outline of the contents and the activities to be
implemented in the review proper.
4. PREPARATION OF TEST BOOKLETS

Simulated licensure examination test booklet will be prepared, where

question are selected from the latest LET reviewers and the Mid-term and Final
Examinations test papers of the instructors on the courses taken, and as
prescribed in CHED CMO. 30 s. 2004. The preparation will be done by individual
instructors/professors in the department and its affiliates.
5. NETWORKING
Networking with other review centers and hiring of review masters from other
institutions networking will be explored. This is in response to an AACCUP
recommendation. High performing graduates during the Licensure Examinations for
Teachers will also be tapped and will be provided with modest incentive.
As practiced for the past two years, the initiative of the MET REVIEW CENTER from
Metro Manila will be considered. They will administer the Pre Assessment which is a LET
Simulated Test. The result will give the College an idea on the extent to which students
has mastered Teaching Pedagogies and will be the bases the level of enrichment
activities that will be undertaken. The students here will be informed on their individual
scores.

6. PRE , POST EXAMINATIONS and PRACTICE TESTS

Pre and post test examination will be administered to these

students who will undergo the review. This is to make sure they have truly gained
something from the activity. This will also be analyzed to determine the skills and
competencies not mastered. Results will be considered curricular inputs for the teacher
education programs. Other than the pre and posttests the Review Masters will be
required to prepare practice tests on courses handled.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

This is the most important component of the scheme and will be done to
sustain participation and attendance. Daily attendance of students will be
checked through the review masters. Concerns on attendance will immediately
be addressed so that enthusiasm will not fade. These pertains to the attendance
of students as well as the review master. It is proposed that the result of the post
and pre- examination will be an important consideration in giving the passing
/failing grades for ELECTIVES 1,2 AND 3 , accordingly reflected in the students’
Transcript of Records.
The following are the requirements each student should
comply /accomplish and should be checked by the class
advisers before they are allowed to take the posttest;

a. Individual compilation of review handouts and practice

tests on;
- General Education Course
- Professional Education Courses/Pedagogies/ Theories and
Concepts/ Methods and Strategies
- Content Courses/ Specialization Courses / Major Subjects
b. Admission slips
c. Duly signed accomplished individual attendance sheet.
The same will also be a requirement for clearance signing as the students request
for the release of TOR.

REVIEW SCHEDULE

For the guidance of the review masters, students, supervisors and college
instructors and professors, review schedule is hereto attached.
It shown in the schedule that follows that all courses taken by the students were
included and all professors/instructors handling each subject are assigned as review
master considering their expertise.
Percentage composition of each component in the LET was the basis for time
allotments; 60% is allotted for Professional Education /Pedagogies and 40% for general
education.

The review schedule is still subject for revision when necessary.
