Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Describe how you could address Universal Design for Learning principles
to extend and support the learning experiences for all students.
Engagement: This lesson uses engagement by using questions that appropriately challenge the students as
well as engaging them through the motivation of winning the Kahoot game.
Representation: This lesson uses representation through giving students multiple choice questions along with
photos in order to help them acquire their answer.
Action and Expression: This lesson uses action and expression through the use of multiple choice questions to
give students options when answering during the game.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Since this SRT is being used as both a formative assessment and for test preparation, it will come at the end of
unit and the end of the class period that is before the test. I will also students to take out their devices and
pull up the link and enter the game pin. I will also let students know that these are the type of questions that
will be on the test.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: (What will the students do? What will the
teacher do? What materials are needed? How long with the activity last?)
The students will be on their individual devices for this Kahoot game, and they will enter their game PIN and
names. The teacher will be at the SMART board or computer to control the game while the students are
playing it. The materials needed are student devices (either phones, tablets, or laptops), a projector or SMART
board, and a computer. The Kahoot game will last around 10 minutes and then we will review afterwards for
5 minutes.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10): questions
are linked in my Kahoot tab on my page!
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
These questions will mirror those of the questions on the test which are standards based, so there is a correct
answer which students need to know in preparation for the examination.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the Kahoot game, we will spend five minutes reviewing the answers and discussing any questions that
they answered incorrectly. I will make sure that they feel prepared for the test and prompt them to ask any
remaining questions about the Kahoot, the test, the content, and their testing format.
How will the data be used?
The data for this Kahoot game will be just as much for the students as it will be for the teacher. The students
will be able to tell what they know versus what they need to review before the test. The teacher will also be
able to see what content the students need to be reminded of at the end of the class. This is just a review
game for students so it will not be graded but they will need to understand that how well they do on the
review game will be reflective of how they will do on the test so, if they need to spend more time studying –
they will know by the end of class.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
This activity will be one of the first review games that I have ever created, and I aligned it with the standards
and what content I would test on for the greatest student success. I think it serves as an awesome formative
assessment and will help me better understand how effective my teaching was. My objective is to essentially
make sure the students are prepared for the test and review any content that is unclear.
Reflective Practice: After designing this lesson idea, how do you feel the activities you created could impact
student learning? You may have designed this idea as an introductory activity to a unit of study. With that in
mind, what could be done to further extend the lesson? Are there other technology tools that could further
enhance this project?
I think that this serves as a very effective way to review for a test in an engaging and interactive manner. I
think it will benefit both student learning and teacher preparation. I would not need to extend this lesson
outside of the 5-minute review because it will then translate into the students studying for the upcoming test.
I really feel like Kahoot is both a student and teacher favorite that we can use often to serve as an

introductory activity, a review game, or a simple formative assessment. I think it is student centered and
integrates technology well.
