Shannon Kim is a student at Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood, CA who is interested in attending the University of California, Irvine to study Communications, Public Relations, Business, or International Relations. ISOs Woman of Community ❖ Volunteering at the Aquarium of the Pacific (2014-Present) ➢ Learned public speaking and gained confidence in my skills. ■ Assigned to interpreting exhibits with aquatic animals either one-on-one with guests or in front of large crowds. ■ Gained more knowledge about the animals. ➢ Learned patience when working with guests and co-workers.
Woman of Courage ❖ Mock Trial (2016-Present) ➢ Learned that taking a challenge, as scary as it can be, can be essential to personal growth. ➢ Learned to have more confidence in myself and my potential. ■ VIP Award (2016) ● An award given from the opposing team to who they thought was the most prepared and well-done in their role. ❖ Joan of Arc Club (2016-2017) ➢ Secretary ➢ Made fundraisers to raise money for women who are unable to afford toiletries. ➢ Discussed ways to bring awareness of women’s issues.
Woman of Faith ❖ Kairos (2018) ➢ Learned that its okay to have your own special relationship with faith, even if it differs from many other common ideals. ➢ Learned to seek an acceptance with me and my spirituality.
Woman of Heart ❖ Hapkido (2013-Present) ➢ Learned to take leadership of tough situations. ➢ Learned to be patient and to make more of an understanding towards kids. ■ Kids can be naive or troublesome and its not always a bad thing. ■ Comforting kids and making an effort to understand their point of view. ➢ Earned black belt after years of preparation. Woman of Intellect ❖ SAT Camp (2018) ➢ Learned to work hard for what I want. ■ Studied extra to move from the B to the A class. ➢ Learned to reward myself for hard work to further motivate myself to reach higher. ■ Eating ramen out with SAT friends after camp was done.
