Guiding Questions for Your Service Audit. The particular questions listed are to give some ideas
about what aspects to select to describe in your organization's environment. You will probably not
be able to answer all of the questions asked -- the questions are intended to stimulate your thinking.
Do the best you can and be creative about how you might find information (other than, or in
addition to, asking a manager or other employee directly).
Directions:
As a team, you have already conducted an audit of a service organization in PART A. You will
need to read and study Chapter 8 in detail before you proceed with this assignment. The intent of
this assignment is to develop a thorough, detailed service blueprint for the chosen service provider.
Requirements:
Graphical Portion of the Service Blueprint:
The assignment is expected to allow students to demonstrate (a) an understanding of the blueprint
concepts from class and (b) an ability to apply them in looking at a specific service provider.
Each blueprint should include the components discussed in chapter 8 and also in class. They should
have all lines clearly indicated and arrows should be included to indicate the order of
activities. It should also include at least four boxes of support processes.
Potential bottlenecks and failure points should also be indicated in the blueprints.
To compliment the graphical portion of the blueprint, each team is expected to visit the business
chosen and to graphically capture the different steps (customer or employee actions) of the service
delivery process and the various components of physical evidence that customers experience.
In addition to the actual blueprint, each team is to write a short paper (3-4) pages, addressing the
following issues:
Describe 3 key elements of physical evidence revealed in the blueprint (photos should be
included) and discuss how they influence the customer experience.
Identify 3 key failpoints (points where problems can occur) and/or bottleneck points (points
in the process where backups or slow delivery may occur)
Suggest possible solutions/alternatives to these problems.
* It is mandatory to include proper referencing (while writing the report and at the end).
Deliverables:
Report (10-15 Pages Report, excluding appendix)
CD containing power point slides, reports, data sources used for the report
Pictures of the site/office visit must be included in the Appendix
