As I glanced at my school photograph, I caught a glimpse of a picture of

Joseph. My blood started to boil. An incident surfaced in my mind.

Walking towards the MRT station, I frowned again as I stared angrily at

my Science examination paper. “Failed! Forty-nine percent!” The paper seemed

to be [1] __________ at me. I almost shredded my paper in a fit of rage.

Moodily, I reached my destination.

While waiting for the train on the platform, I felt something. My sixth

sense was tingling. Out of the blue, a hand reached out and clung onto my bag.

Another hand was anchored to my shoulders. [2] __________ , I struggled, but

it was to no avail. A gale of sinister laughter rang out behind me. Cold sweat

trickled down my spine; my face turned pale. Joseph, [3] __________ ,

approached and faced me. He waved a badminton racket at me. Joseph was

the school bully. I cringed.

Suddenly, I realized something familiar about the racket; it was my lost

racket! It was everything to me before I lost it a month ago. I glanced behind

me. There were Joseph’s cronies. However, being small was an advantage, as

I had observed. I ducked and swung my hands in a circle. To my delight, the

cronies lost grip on me. I slid sideways and dashed forward with all my might.

1
“Stop! Or else you’ll have to say goodbye to your racket!” Joseph

[4] __________ me.

I fell for his trick. Joseph’s cronies dragged me back to him. Joseph

laughed in glee.

“You’ll have to say goodbye to this junk, anyway,” Joseph taunted.

“Return it!” I hollered.

Joseph grinned.

“Return it,” Joseph [5] __________ .

I could not [6] __________ this any longer. A vein bulged in my temple.

Being angry, I could not help but rampage like a bear with a sore head. My fury

transformed me into a monster. I unleashed my anger, charging straight at

Joseph and headbutting him. I managed to snatch my racket back, but to my

horror, Joseph [7] __________ to the track. The sound of the train rumbling in

the distance could be heard. The train! I panicked.

A passerby reacted quickly. He slammed his hand on the emergency

button. Cold fear clawed [8] __________ at my heart. I did not dare to look.

A few seconds, which were like a few minutes to me, passed by.

I peeked through a gap between my fingers. Joseph was sitting on the

track. He was covered in sweat. He felt so frightened that he sat as still as a

statue. Everybody sighed in relief. A ripple of relief ran down my spine.

I laughed upon recalling this incident. Joseph’s habit of bullying

[9] __________ on him. He had learnt a lesson and turned over a new leaf

since then.

I looked at my racket and felt that a life was more important than a

racket. I felt guilty and [10] ___________ that I had almost killed him. Wiping

2
away my tears, I put away my racket and school photograph in my locker and

headed for the dining table for dinner.
