Fault code: MID 128- PID 158 - FMI 1

General information on the fault code:
MID128 G002 - Engine management ECU
PID158 Battery voltage(s)
FMI-1 Data existing but below the normal operating band
Appliance(s) implicated:
G002 Engine management ECU
A004 Batteries

Condition(s) and reason(s) for saving of fault code:

The A004 equipment is defective.

The system is short-circuited.
Cut-off at earth conductor(s) level 1.
Cut-off at power supply conductor(s) level 291.
The voltage reading between the terminals 1 and 2 of the component(s) A004 is less than
6.4 V.

Perceptible symptoms or "customer complaint" due to fault:

D018 Battery charge warning light

Recording of the fault code by the ECU G002.

The warning light D049 comes on (D048: "STOP" warning light ; D049: "SERVICE" warning
light).

Troubleshooting and repair method:

In order not to replace any equipment unnecessarily, it is essential to follow the steps
below before carrying out fault finding:

If there is an active or inactive fault code, disconnect the connector or sensor. Check that
the connectors are not oxidised and that the pins are not damaged.

Note: Certain fault codes become inactive when the engine is stopped. Start the engine to
check whether the fault code is still inactive when the engine is running.

After carrying out any work on the connector, refit the connector. Check whether the fault
code becomes inactive. If the fault is still present, then carry out a check of the wires and
sensors in accordance with the troubleshooting instructions.

The values given in the readings tables are correct operation values.

In order not to damage the equipment, the repair steps should be carried out in the
correct order.

General checks:

Check the general state of the function:

z The wiring harnesses and the fluids routing pipes are sound.
z The connectors are neither oxidized nor physically damaged.
z The connecting arrangement is not damaged.
z The connectors are properly plugged into their equipment.

Diagnostics using the RENAULT TRUCKS test tool:

Using the RENAULT TRUCKS test tool, perform the operation 2846-08-03-02.

Take a reading using a multi-meter.

To facilitate making readings during the diagnostic check described below, RENAULT
TRUCKS recommends:

Use tool 8699.

Use tool 0061.

Use tool 0014.

The numbers in parentheses, shown in the values to be measured table, are those of the
terminals or the tools mentioned above.
Tests and measurements:

Turn the ignition key to position "M" (On).
