Assignment:
Your group will be giving a presentation on your individual play. This presentation will include a summary and analysis
of the play, as well as a performed scene from the play. Each member of the group will have an assigned role, and
everyone is responsible for presenting some part of the analysis and scene. You will decide amongst yourselves who is
doing what part in both sections of the presentation. Each step of the process has been broken down below. Obviously
before your start, you must finish your play, so you may spend some time at the beginning of the process to split into
smaller groups and finish reading it.
Timeline:
1. Finish reading your individual play! You may do this individually or in groups.
2. Assign individual roles to members of your group. You must have all roles covered before repeating the “text
expert.” Type your names in the chart below:
* You will receive a grade based on your ability to work with your group, so be sure to do your part and participate in all
group discussions. You will grade one another after the presentations are finished, and I will decide your grade by
combining my own observations of the group work with your average score from your teammates.
3. Create your presentation on Google Slides. Use the following guiding questions below to help you meet the
requirements.
Target: I can cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what a text says explicitly as well as
inferences and interpretations drawn from the text.
● What happens in the play?
● Which specific details are most important to cite?
● What is the setting (time, place, atmosphere)?
● Who is involved?
Target: I can analyze in detail the development of two or more themes or central ideas over the course of a work of
literature, including how they emerge and are shaped and refined by specific details.
● What big ideas or themes do the author include in the text?
● How does the authors' treatments of these main ideas and themes add to their meaning throughout the text?
● How do these themes develop/change throughout the course of the play?
● What details are so integral they must be included in the summary of it?
Target: I can analyze how dynamic characters (e.g., those with multiple or conflicting motivations) develop over
the course of a text, interact with other characters, and advance the plot or develop the theme.
● Choose at least three dynamic characters to analyze.
● How did this character develop over the course of the play?
● How did this character interact with other characters?
● How did this character advance the plot?
● How did this character develop a theme from the play?
4. Choose an essential scene from the play to perform for the class. At the end of your scene, briefly explain why
your group chose that particular scene to perform.
