2019 JAPAN OPENING SERIES…the Mariners will open the 2019 regular season in Tokyo, Japan
on March 20-21 against the Oakland Athletics…the two-game 2019 Japan Opening Series at the
Tokyo Dome will be “road” games for the Mariners…the Mariners will travel from Arizona to Tokyo on
Thursday, March 14…the trip will begin with two exhibition games vs. Nippon Professional Baseball
teams on Sunday, March 17 and Monday, March 18…the Mariners will begin the regular season on
March 20 at 6:35 pm in Tokyo (2:35 am in Seattle) and will fly back to Seattle following the game on
March 21 (6:35 pm in Japan/2:35 am in Seattle)…this will mark the 5th time that the Major League

VS. THE ATHLETICS…the Mariners and Athletics meet for the first of three Cactus League games

THE 15 CLUB…Ichiro Suzuki and Félix Hernández are each entering their 15th Major League
Spring Training Camps with the Mariners…Ichiro has also appeared in 2 spring camps with the
Yankees (2013-14) and 3 spring camps with the Marlins (2015-2017), making this his 20th Major
League Spring Training…Ichiro made his first appearance at Seattle’s Spring Training as a special
guest in 1999 before signing with the club prior to the 2001 season (1999, 2001-12, 2017-c)…Félix’s

OPENING NIGHT…after the Mariners open the regular season with a pair of games vs. the Oakland
Athletics at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, they will host the 2018 World Series Champion Boston
Red Sox for a 4-game series at T-Mobile Park, beginning March 28…the home opener is slated
for Thursday, March 28 at 4:10 pm…tickets for Opening Night and all Mariners home games are

NEW FACES…of the 67 players in Seattle’s Major League camp, 35 were not with the Mariners
organization at the end of last season…among the 35 newcomers, 15 were acquired in trades this
past offseason…of the 32 returning players, 19 appeared in the Majors with the Mariners in 2018.
BUSY OFFSEASON…from the end of the 2018 regular season through the first day of Seattle’s
Major League Spring Training (Feb. 11), the Mariners completed nine trades, signed seven Major
League free agents and claimed one player in the Major League Phase of the Rule 5 Draft…of the
nine trades involving the 40-man roster, the Mariners acquired 17 players and completed deals with
eight different clubs.

2018 IN REVIEW…completed the 2018 season 89-73 (.549), finishing 3rd in the American League
West (14.0 games behind division-winner Houston)…finished 8.0 games back of the American
League Wild Card…went 45-36 (.556) at home and 44-37 (.543) on the road…were 58-39 (.598)
prior to the All-Star break and 31-34 (.477) following the break…posted a 25-20-8 record in series,
including 7 sweeps…went 36-21 (.632) in one-run games, leading the Majors in one-run wins; the
Mariners 36 one-run wins were a single-season club record (previous: 35, 2009).
HEY RIZZS, DID YOU KNOW…that Marco Gonzales (13 wins, 166.2 innings pitched) was 1
of 7 left-handed pitchers with at least 13 wins and 165.0 innings pitched in 2018?…Gonzales

GS)…of his 31 relief outings, 20 were of at least 2.0 innings.
• Acquired - Signed as a free agent on Dec. 18, 2018.
• Minor League Totals - Has appeared in 6 Minor League seasons with
