REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Benefits of Aloe barbadensis

In present times, Aloe Vera has been used in a lot of beauty or skin care products. Aloe

Vera has anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties that can treat many health issues. Moreover,

according to Kriti Malik, it is very effective to treat hair related diseases. It was alleged that it

contains the proteolytic enzymes which can help repair dead skin cells on the scalp. In addition,

Aloe barbadensis helps promote hair growth, prevents itching scalp, reduces dandruff, and

smoothens your hair. In fact, due to these benefits, many people plant their own aloe vera in their

backyard. Thus, it would be easy for them to have it always as they can use it every day to apply

and massage it’s gel directly into their hair and scalp.

Keratin, the primary protein for hair, consists of amino acids, oxygen, carbon, and small

amounts of hydrogen, nitrogen, and sulfur. Aloe Vera has a chemical that makes up similar to that

of keratin and it rejuvenates the hair with its own nutrients, giving it more elasticity and

preventing breakage. With the help of the keratin, your hair will easily heal or get stronger and

healthier. Seen by (Diane Gage 1988)

Moreover, keratin is the type of protein that makes up your hair, skin, and nails. It is a

protective protein, less prone to scratching or tearing than other types of cells that your body

produces. People who use keratin on their hair report that their hair is smoother and easier to

manage as a result provided that keratin will be used on a daily basis. However, the effects may

vary greatly depending on whether your hair is healthy before you use the same. Furthermore,
keratin works by soothing down the cells that overlap to form your hair strands. The layers of the

hair absorb the keratin, resulting in hair that looks fully glossy. Keratin also makes your hair easy

to style. (Chun, 2018)

N.xatural Non-Greasy Hair Pomade and Texturizer

What are the most important ingredients of a pomade and what are the benefits of the

same? Each ingredient serves a benefit that is good for our hair. First, Beeswax makes your

pomade less greasy and also gives your hair a nice firm hold. It maintains the growing out of the

hair. In short, it moisturizes and soothes down your hair. Second, Coconut oil helps repair your

hair, plus it fights dandruff, Coconut oil is that it will be soft and pliable in your hands, but will

harden back up on your hair. This helps to cut down on the greasy feeling but it will leave your

hair shiny and soft. Third, Bentonite clay is a gritty powder made from naturally occurring

volcanic ash. However, it is very important to make sure that you get a good quality bentonite

clay, the bentonite clay helps to give the pomade a gritty, fun texture to play with. Lastly,

Sandalwood essential oil this ingredient stimulates hair growth, it will help your hair to grow

faster. Also, it helps to condition and cool down your scalp, like the coconut oil it also removes

dandruff in your hair and add fragrance to your hair. Tried and tested by Katie Vance.

An overview of its clinical uses and proposed mechanism of action

Aloe vera, commonly known as Barbados or Curaçao Aloe, is an herbal medicine with a

long tradition of use by a variety of cultures. The succulent plant grows in arid and subtropical

climates and is best known for 2 distinct preparations: the clear mucilaginous gel that is widely

used for the treatment of minor burns, especially sunburns, and the thick sap of the leaves that

turns yellow-brown and has strong laxative effects that caution its use. The efficacy of aloe vera
gel to treat burn wounds, genital herpes, and seborrheic dermatitis have been shown in clinical

trials, but other indications such as psoriasis or internal application for the treatment of type 2

diabetes remain inconclusive.

Disadvantages of Pomade

Despite the benefits provided by using pomade, the use of the same still has a down side

effect. Such as, fading of the natural black hair color the hair styling creams contains chemicals

which can fade the natural black color of your hair. Next, pomades can give you acne because of

its chemical hold which are present in the hair styling creams, thus, it has an adverse impact on

the hair and on the health of a person. Moreover, they also have a negative impact on the skin of

the face. If the creams come in contact with a sensitive skin, then the person may get rashes and

allergies. With regular usage of these synthetic products, the person will develop acne on the

face. Lastly, as one of the causes of dandruff, the cream from pomade may also take a toll on the

a sensitive skin on the scalp. If the person is using the synthetic products on a daily basis, then

the chemicals will react on the scalp and result in the development of dandruff. The chemicals in

the creams make the upper layer of the scalp dry and cause it to itch. Issued by David J. Pyle

Preparation and characterization of aloe Vera

Biopolymers have been widely used for tissue engineering, wound healing, drug delivery

and gene delivery. Aloe vera (Av) is one of the most abundant natural biopolymers used in

treatment of burns, healing wounds, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory drugs. Its derivatives

are also applied in the anti-tumor activities in eight cancer lines.

The Av is insoluble in distilled due to strong inter and intra-molecular hydrogen bonding

between the individual chains thus poor mechanical strength is the limiting factor for using the

Av. The combination with other polymers like Aloe vera acetate (AvAc) is an effective method to

modify the biodegradation rate and to optimize the mechanical properties of Av. The hydrophilic

nature of AvAc has outstanding mechanical properties that will be critical for its wound healing

applications. Furthermore, a water soluble synthetic polymer Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) has

good biocompatibility and suitable tensile properties. Blending of Av, AvAc with PVP improved

the biological, mechanical and degradation properties than as individual components. The

preparation of an ideal scaffold is through electrospinning process

that is not only cost effective but the easy way to produce ultrafine fibers from polymer

solutions.

The current study focuses on the fabrication of nanofibers using Av, AvAc and PVP and

their potential use as scaffolds. The study involves characterization of Av, AvAc and their

nanofibers and analysis of anti-bacterial and anti-viral effects. The AvAc was synthesized from

Av followed by preparation of a polymeric solution by PVP that electros pinned to obtain

nanofibers.

Summary

To sum up everything, Aloe Barbadensis is really helpful when it comes to our hair and

scalp, the only problem is that people uses too much amount of such product and the chemicals

of the pomade makes their hair damage and even on their skin. Pomade can be really helpful

when it comes to our proper hygiene. It maintains our hair style for us to look neat and clean. In
this study, the researchers will make a pomade which has an additional formula of Aloe Vera

which can condition the hair. Also, this pomade may help your hair to grow longer than its

natural length. Furthermore, aloe Vera is considered as a herbal medicine, which can help in

many different way such as weight loss and skin care. It also contains keratin for our hair to

condition well for better looking, healthier and shinier hair. In short, the researchernq will make a

pomade that can hold your hair longer, plus can make your hair properly conditioned.
