● Course Reader

○ A course reader is available in the Stanford bookstore.


○ There is no electronic version of this reader. Please
make sure you order in advance to complete any
assignments. No extensions will be granted for ordering the
course reader later.
○ Terman Engineering Library (Huang 2n d floor) has 2
copies of this year’s course reader on reserve. You may rent
it out for 4 hours each time.
○ SCPD students should order online through Stanford
bookstore website.
Course Description: This class is primarily for graduate students.
We will learn how entrepreneurial strategy focuses on
creating structural change or responding to change induced
externally. Grabber-holder dynamics creates a sustainable
two-sided market as an analytical framework for developing
entrepreneurial strategy to increase success in creating and
shaping the diffusion of new technology or product
innovation dynamics. Topics addressed in this course include
first mover vs. follower advantage in an emerging market;
latecomer advantage and strategy in a mature market ;
strategy to break through stagnation ; and strategy to turn
danger into opportunity .

Grades rubric
1. Each case study: 15x2 = 30%

2. Class participation*: 15%

3. Final project: 55%

• 15% work organization & communication style


• 15% final presentation
• 25% final report (quality and recommendations)

*For on campus students, participation is attendance roll sheet and


your questions in class; For SCPD students, log your participation
on canvas discussion. On-campus students can miss at most 2
lectures.
Team formation.
There are two types of teams in the class, which are not the same.
First is a case study team of 4-6 people, self-selected on Canvas.
Second is a project team of 6-8 students per each of the industry
project. We will try to match people to sponsors according to
mutual interest, but your first preference is not guaranteed.
