LEGAL RESEARCH AND WRITING I First Semester, Academic Year 2018-2019 Caloy F. Cajucom
Please follow the instructions below and submit your work (in PDF format) by email (ocfcajucom@gmail.com) on or before midnight of Wednesday, January 9, 2018. This exercise is worth 30%
of your final grade. To avoid library availability issues, you are encouraged to complete this exam right away. This is an individual exercise, not a group work.
INSTRUCTIONS
Visit any law library and choose five local sources (e.g., Journal of the Constitutional Commission, Official Gazette, SCRA, Philippine Treaty Series, etc.) and five foreign or international sources
(e.g., USCS, USCA, AmJur, CJS, ICJ Decisions, U.N.T.S, etc.) listed in the syllabus. You may also use local or foreign sources of secondary authorities not discussed in the syllabus like journals and
other legal publications. Then:
a. Examine the actual hard copies of the sources and give a detailed description of each source (e.g., frequency of publication; nature of content; arrangement of the content; steps on how to
look up topics, cases, or any authority you are looking for; special features; etc.);
c. Take a picture of yourself with the sources and photos of the portions of the sources in relation to your descriptions. Please include these photos in your submission.
d. Write a paragraph (no more than five sentences) discussing a legal concept / doctrine / principle that is tackled in each of your sources, complete with quotation marks (when proper) and
footnotes. Do not simply copy the content from your source.
The outline of your submission should look something like this:
A. Local Sources

If you have any question, please course it through your class beadle. Good luck!
