Dear Nurse Residency Coordinator,

My name is Alyssa Abler, and I am a dedicated, hard-working, motivated woman who is very interested in
bringing my skills and passion to your prestigious hospital. The Children’s Hospital of Colorado offers a wonderful
combination of my interests and passions. I am confident that through my education, experiences, and my rigorous
clinical rotations, I established excellent time-management skills, and an extraordinary devotion for pediatric nursing,
that I am eager to contribute to your organization to help make it the best it can be.

Throughout my tenure at the University of Arizona Bachelor of Science Nursing Program, I have completed
extensive hours of clinical experience at Southern Arizona VA Healthcare, Tucson Medical Center, St. Joseph’s
Hospital, Northwest Medical Center, and Palo Verde Psychiatric Hospital. During each clinical rotation, I was able to
implement knowledge that I learned in the classroom and apply it to the nursing profession. This gave me the
opportunity to not only improve on my nursing skills and confidence in the nursing profession, but also to learn the
importance of giving quality and safe care to every patient.

During the summer of 2018, I stepped out of my comfort zone to complete an internship in Centennial,
Colorado as a nurse intern for a well-known pediatric office serving more than 15,000 patients. This experience taught
me how to be quick on my feet and mold my nursing skills to meet the needs of each unique patient and his or her
family. Professionally, this internship allowed for me to develop a greater understanding of the basic nursing skills
needed to succeed outside of school, but more importantly, it taught me the joy and compassion that comes with being
a pediatric nurse. In my final semester of nursing school, I was honored to receive a preceptorship position in the
Mother/Baby unit at Tucson Medical Center. During the course of 180 hours, I strengthened my passion for pediatric
care, and developed the necessary skills to transition into a professional role after graduation. Some of the skills that I
developed include time-management, collaboration with medical staff, and the importance of working as a team. This
preceptorship, along with my previous experiences, has laid the foundation for me to become a successful registered
nurse post-graduation.

My hard-working and enthusiastic personality combined with my desire to develop strong, positive
relationships with my colleagues and my patients, make me the ideal candidate for this nursing role. I have a particular
interest in a position in Pediatric Oncology/Hematology, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the General Pediatric Unit,
and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit through Children’s Hospital of Colorado. I am incredibly interested and open to
either the Anschutz campus or Memorial Hospital. This new-graduate residency program will push me, and ultimately
give me the necessary challenge and preparation to be a successful team member both on the unit and within this
hospital. I would love to be given the opportunity to prove that I am the best fit for the job.

I am eager to discuss this opportunity with you after you have had the opportunity to review my attached
credentials. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best Regards,

Alyssa R. Abler
