Barrett, Tanya’s dad, was bareback rider, team roper
and pick up man. He was still picking up when Dawson
was three years old, and picked up Larry a lot of times
in the rodeo arena. The boys’ Great Uncle is an owner

Denton Dunham (at left) and Dawson Stover belong to the Saskatchewan
High School Rodeo Association, where they compete in Team Roping,
Denton as the Header and Dawson cleaning up as hie heeler. Being a
team since last spring, they have really clicked. At the Saskatchewan
High School Finals Rodeo held in Martensville this past June, they were
declared the High School Rodeo Champions of 2018. Paycheck? The
coveted team roping championship saddles and buckles. In July they
traveled to Rock Springs, Wyoming for the National High School Finals
Rodeo, where they placed 80th out of 180 teams, making them eligible
for some scholarship money. That same month they qualified for the
Canadian High School Finals Rodeo at Merritt, British Columbia, but
didn’t attend as they had a put a lot of miles on with their horses — about
1,700 miles’ worth round trip — while attending the National High School
Finals. Their latest big trip was to the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Red
Deer, AB, on November 3rd, competing in the Rising Stars performance. Dawson Stover is in grade 10 (not
