Truthfulness and Honest-2

 One of the characteristics of Prophets is truthfulness

‫واذكر في الكتاب ابراهيم انه كان صديقا نبيا‬

 Allah wants the believers to follow the same path

َّ ‫ع ٱل‬
َ‫صـٰ ِدقِين‬ ْ ُ‫ٱَّلل و َُكون‬
َ ‫وا َم‬ َ َّ ‫وا‬ ْ ‫يَـٰ ٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّ ِذينَ ءَا َم ُن‬
ْ ‫وا ٱتَّ ُق‬

Oh You who believe! Have fear of God, and be among the truthful.”
 Prophet Muhammad (sal) even before he become a prophet he was known as
“Truthful and trustworthy”
When he was asked to call His tribe to Islam, He gathered them under the Hill
of Safa and asked “....”

People said “‫قالوا واله ما جربنا عليك كذبا قط‬

 Lesson from Hijra: The prophet Muhammad left Ali to sleep on his bed in
order that he can return the valuables to their owners.

In this respect Rasoolullah said:

‫الص ْدقَ َحتَّى‬ِ ‫صد ُُق َويَت َ َح َّرى‬ ْ َ‫ َو َما يَزَ ا ُل ال َّر ُج ُل ي‬،‫ َوإِ َّن ْالبِ َّر يَ ْهدِي إِلَى ْال َجنَّ ِة‬،‫الص ْدقَ يَ ْهدِي إِلَى ْالبِ ِر‬ ِ ‫ فَإ ِ َّن‬،‫ق‬ ِ ِ‫علَ ْي ُك ْم ب‬
ِ ‫الص ْد‬ َ
ُ ‫الر ُج ُل َي ْكذ‬
،‫ِب‬ ِ َّ‫ور َي ْهدِي ِإلَى الن‬
َّ ‫ َو َما َيزَ ا ُل‬،‫ار‬ ْ
َ ‫ َوإِ َّن الفُ ُج‬،‫ور‬ ْ
ِ ‫ِب َي ْهدِي ِإ َلى الفُ ُج‬ ْ
َ ‫ فَإ ِ َّن ال َكذ‬،‫ِب‬ ْ
َ ‫ َو ِإيَّا ُك ْم َوال َكذ‬،‫صدِيقًا‬ ِ ِ‫َّللا‬ َ ‫يُ ْكت‬
َّ َ‫َب ِع ْند‬
‫َّللاِ َكذَّابًا‬
َّ َ‫َب ِع ْند‬ َ ‫ِب َحتَّى يُ ْكت‬ َ ‫َويَت َ َح َّرى ْال َكذ‬

I order you to be truthful, for indeed truthfulness leads to righteousness, and

indeed righteousness leads to Paradise. A man continues to be truthful and strives
for truthfulness until he is written as a truthful person with God.

And be cautious of falsehood, for indeed falsehood leads to sinning, and indeed
sinning leads to the Fire. A man continues to tell lies and strives upon falsehood
until he is written as a liar with God.” (Saheeh Muslim).
In another place Rasoolullah (sal) said:

‫ع َد عَنهُ ال َملَكُ ميال من نَتن َما َجا َء به‬ َ ‫ " إ َذا َك َذ‬: ‫ قَا َل‬، ‫سلَ َم‬
َ ‫ب العَب ُد تَبَا‬ َ ‫علَيه َو‬ َ ‫صلَى‬
َ ُ‫ّللا‬ َ ‫ّللا‬
َ ‫سول‬
ُ ‫عَن َر‬
Lying was the most disliked thing for Rasoolullah

‫ ما اطلع علي أحد من ذلك بشيء‬، ‫(ما كان من خلق أبغض إلى رسول هللا صلي هللا علية وسلم من الكذب‬
) ‫فيخرج من قلبه حتى يعلم أنه قد أحدث توبة‬
So think seriously about these 3 serious consequences of lying

1-your name is written in Allah’s record as a liyer

2- Angels go away from you

3- Rasoolullah is angry with you

The signs of Hypocrites are 3: When he speaks he tells lies; when he promise he
would break it; when he is trusted he would betray
‫إن المنافقين في الدرك األسفل من النار ولن تجد لهم نصيرا‬

Let me tell you the story of Ka’b ibn Malik……. (Sura Thawba 117 -118)

 Rasoolullah forbade lying even for joke

 He has also forbade lying even for little children

:‫ فقالت‬، ‫ورسول هللا صلي هللا علية وسلم قاعد في بيتنا‬، ‫ دعتني أمي يوما‬: ‫قال‬، ‫عن عبد هللا بن عامر رضي هللا عنه‬
‫ فقال لها رسول هللا صلي هللا علية‬. ) ‫ (ما أدرت أن تعطيه ؟‬: ‫ فقال لها رسول هللا صلي هللا علية وسلم‬، ‫ها تعال أعطلك‬
‫ ( أما إنك لو لم تعطه شيئا كتبت عليك كذبة‬: ‫وسلم‬
