Assessment Report

For my assessment report I obtained a KTEA. The other types of language tests were not

available in my district. This test is from Pearland ISD and tests the students Reading Composite,

Math Composite, Subtest/composite, and Written Language Composite. My student was a ten-

year-old fourth grader. The assessment provided a clear score of the student’s strengths and

weaknesses.

When looking at the assessment data I began to look for strengths. The student scored

highest for reading comprehension and written expression. Although both the scores were

average, these were the student’s strengths and the tests reflected their performance. For reading

comprehension the student scored 92. Reading Comprehension includes matching pictures and

words, reading and following directions, and reading passages and answering comprehension

questions. For the Written Expression test, the student was required to write sentences, add

capitalization and punctuation, complete or combine sentences, and write an essay.

The student had some areas of weaknesses where they scored below average. These

categories included Math Concepts and Applications, Spelling, and Academic Skills Battery.

Math Concepts and Applications was tested by requiring an oral response to items that require

the application of math principles to real life situations. Our student did not perform their best

and scored well below average in this category.

For Spelling the student was required to write single letters, regular and irregular words.

The student scored well below average in this area and will work to improve their spelling.

Another weakness the student had was Academic Skills Battery. The student scored well below

average on the ASB composite. This is another test of academic performance which the student

scored well below average. These strengths and weaknesses help us determine a plan to improve

the students’ academic performance.

The KTEA-3 is a great tool for testing a student’s readiness and determining their

strengths and weaknesses. With this information we can help the students improve and create

plans to guide the student to success. The student was successful in reading comprehension and

written expression. Through my observation I can predict this student will improve greatly with

this new information.
