Introduction:-
Disguised unemployment is a situation when a part of labour is either left unemployed or it is
employed in such a manner that the labour productivity is zero. Such an unemployment takes place in
an economy when the number of labour employed in an economy exceeds the number of labour an
economy actually demands, i.e. when too many people are filling too few jobs. This type of
unemployment doesn’t affect aggregate output. This type of unemployment takes place in developing
countries where there is large number of population and the jobs available are too low.
This project will comprehensively study the disguised unemployment in India and China. As we know
India is a third world country with 2nd largest population after China and disguised unemployment
affects countries with large population, India and China (which is a second world country) are taken
for study in this project. Causes and effects of disguised unemployment on India and China will be
discussed. Policies undertaken by the government of these countries to tackle unemployment will also
be discussed in this project.
