Background: Acne vulgaris (AV) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebasea


follicle commonly occurs in adolescence and can heal itself. The prevalence of acne vulgaris
in women occurs around the age of 14-17 years. Hormonal enhancement before menstruation
can affect exacerbations and affect acne vulgaris. In this study conducted analysis of the
relationship between menstruation with acne vulgaris with the incidence of acne vulgaris in
female students Abulyatama Facultyof medicine.
Method: This research used analytic observational method with Cross sectional design.
Population in this research is all student of Faculty of medicine Abulyatama Aceh which
amounted to 203 mahasisiwi and sample of research counted 67 respondents with sampling
probability sampling method with stratifid random sampling. Data analysis consists of
univariate analysis and bivariate analysis.
RESULTS: There were 40 (59,7%) respondents, 40 men and women (59,7%), menstrual
occurrence (13,4%) and menstrual occurrence (13,4%).
Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is a relationship of premenstrual time with the
incidence of acne with bivariate analysis of chi square p = .001 (p <0.05). And there is a
relationship of time during menstruation with the incidence of acne with bivariate analyst chi
square p = .005 (p <0.05). There was no time-relation of post menstruation with the incidence
of acne with bivariate analysis of chi square p = .263 (p> 0,05).
