SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN

GRADE 2

I. OBJECTIVE:
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. Identify whether the time is AM and PM ;
b. Describe AM and PM; and
c. Distinguish between AM and PM throughout the day.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:


Topic: AM and PM
Reference: Learning Mathematics pp. 150-159
Author: Amparo C. Sunga
Materials: powerpoint presentation, chart, cards, pictures, worksheet, and manila
paper
III. LEARNING PROCEDURE:
A. Preliminary Activity
a. Prayer (The kid’s prayer)
b. Motivation t (The teacher will ask the students “Who’s ever heard of the
phrase AM and PM when it comes to time?” ”Does anyone have any idea
what the difference is between the two terms? For example 2pm and
2am?” then watch a short video about a.m and p.m)
c. Checking of Attendance

B. Activity Proper

a. The teacher will make a powerpoint with various pictures. The students
will use the cards (labeled a.m. and p.m.) to describe the time when
the teacher ask to show them. If students have differing answers we
will have them explain their logic in order to further ground their
understanding.
C. Analysis
 The teacher will discuss the AM and PM.
 The teacher will identify the difference between AM and PM
with both labels.
 The teacher will give example about AM and PM.
D. Abstraction
a. The teacher will ask the students about these question;
 How do you know when it is AM or PM?
 Why do we need to determine if it’s AM or PM?
 Why AM and PM is important in everyday real life situations?
E. Application
Direction: Circle the correct option.

IV. Evaluation:
Direction: Look at the times below and write if the time is AM or PM.
V. Assignment:
Direction: Students will make events on their own and decide if its occur during
AM or PM.
