These instructions are just a guide and you can assemble in any order.

It is simpler to install the smaller pieces first and

work our way up to the larger items.

1. Install (9) 1k resistors

2. Install (5) 10k resistors

3. Install (1) 330 ohm resistor

4. Install 18 pin socket. The notch faces to the left side of the board.
5. Install 14 pin socket. The notch goes to the left side of the board.

6. Install stereo jack

7. Install 0.1uf capacitor

8. Install (4) Red LEDs. Note the k on the silk screen this designates the LED cathode(short lead). The LEDs must be
installed with the cathode to the left side and the anode on the right.
9. Install Yellow LED. The k designation was accidently left off of the PCB. The yellow LED orientation is the same as
the 4 red ones cathode on the left anode towards the right.

10. Insert (5) Tact Switch

11. Install 3 pin header. If you purchased your parts directly from Tayda you will have a 40 pin header these can
easily be cut to size with a razor knife or small pair of diagonal cutting pliers.

12. Install 2 position terminal block

13. Install (4) 3 position terminal block

14. Install (4) fuse holders. Solder the bases only do not attempt to solder the fuse holders with the fuses installed
this could result in damage to the cover due to the heat applied while soldering.

15. You can go ahead and install fuses at this point

16. Install 20 pin female header. If you ordered your parts directly from Tayda you will have a 40 pin female header.
This can be cut to size with a razor knife. It can be difficult to cut these headers without damaging one of the
pins. If you damage a pin and end up with a 19 pin header don’t worry too much it’s still perfectly useable. Pins
1-12 have no electrical connection to the controller anyway so just install it with the missing pin on the left. As
long as the 8 right most pins are good your controller will work the same.

17. Install (2) 470uf Capacitors. Note orientation. These must fit as pictured.

18. Install (4) relays

19. Install 7805 Voltage Regulator. The regulator needs to be installed with the metal tab facing the edge of the
board.

20. Insert ULN2803 transistor into 18 pin socket. Note orientation. The notch on the chip must face notch on socket.
21. Insert PIC16F688 into 14 pin socket. The notch on the chip must face notch on socket. The chip must be
programmed prior to installation. If this is purchased thru kit version it will be programmed.

22. Insert MP3 Player card. Pin #1 goes to the left as pictured.
23. You don’t have to do this but placing a piece of tape on the SD card allows for easy removal from the MP3 Player
24. Track 003.mp3 and 004.mp3 can be downloaded as these are the instructions for timing/triggering. If the card is
supplied thru a kit version these two files will be loaded onto the SD Card. Move these two files to your
computer.
25. Format SD Card as FAT32
26. Your ambient sound (music or sound that is played continuously) should be labeled as 001.mp3
27. Your Trigger track should be labeled as 002.mp3
28. Files must be loaded in order to the SD card. So copy over to the newly formatted card 001.mp3, then
002.mp3,then 003.mps, then 004.mp3

A short video showing this process can be found if you control + click here
29. Insert SD card into slot. Notice the tape makes it easier to remove it.

30. Connect powered audio speakers. Computer speakers work great.

31. Connect 12 volt DC power source.
PIR’s
Now you have to pay attention to these as the hookup/pin outs are not the same on all models.

This is a Parallax PIR. Notice the pin layout (out, plus, negative). Out (Signal) will be a white wire typically.

Above is another brand. Notice pin out (positive, out, negative). The signal wire is in the middle rather on the end.
This is what your typical cable will look like. Notice Black, red, white. In this configuration it can be hooked directly up to
the Parallax PIR.

This cable has been modified to fit an aftermarket PIR. Notice that we removed the white and red wire and repositioned
them to be red, white, and black.
This is the modified wire attached to the aftermarket PIR.

This is the other end of that cable attached to the board. Pay attention to the wire layout.
Button Controls
Button function any time the controller is in the un-triggered state and all trigger delays have expired

RECORD VOLUME DOWN VOLUME UP SETUP MENU TRIGGER

Button functions while in the setup menu

Once everything is hooked up and powered on, you should hear your ambient sound playing.

If you purchased a kit you should be able to push button 4 (Playback) and the relays should click and your trigger sound
should play.

To record a new trigger event hold button 3 for 3 seconds and follow instructions that should be playing. After you have
set the sequence length and trigger delay push the record button to finish that setup.

Next push the record button for about a second or less. The trigger sound/music should start playing and at this time
push the buttons that corresponds to the relay you want to activate. The relay will only stay on as long as you hold the
buttons down.
