cosmetologist should consider when looking for a salon to work for? How did
you build up your clientele, what are some tricks and services that helped
boost your clientele? What are somethings about working at a salon the schools
DO NOT tell you about that students should know? I also hope to specialize in
mens haircuts, what are some good resources for learning how to do great
mens haircuts and how did you build your clientele at a salon for that? I feel as
if most men would prefer to go to a barbershop or a super cuts and get their
hair done for $8. Also thank you for doing this AMA, I hope you have the times
to answer all my questions, it would really take away a lot of the stress I've
been having!
enlace
[–] I_Am_Delilah [S] 3 puntos 2 meses atrás
Ok.
-Consider what type of salon you want to work in. It sounds like you want to
work in an upscale men's barber shop. Go to the barber shops on your area.
Ask what qualifications they are looking for. Dress like them, talk and act
like them. If you do, you really will be one of them
-To build a clientele: don't talk about yourself. Talk about them. Keep notes
to remember important suff (birthdays, kids, vacation plans). Talk about
what you are doing. Explain how you are cutting the hair and why it's so
great. Men love to understand what the hell is going on. Explain what
products you are using and why. Refer to products and implements like
brushes as "tools", guys like that. Show him how to style his hair yourself,
then mess it up and let him recreate it. This way your sure he can do it at
home. Don't ask if he likes the hair cut. Men will think you're unsure. At the
end say:"I love it. What do you think?" walk him to reception and ask him to
rebook. Tell him that your books are almost full and that if he doesn't
rebook, he may not be able to get in. This is key.
-You need to look and act really successful. If you don't look and act really
classy and professional, you wont ever be successful.
-American Crew has an amazing class called the Men's Work Academy. It's
worth it. You can also look for reps in your area that teach men's hair
classes. Practice on every guy you know. Buy Oster 76 clipper and all of the
metal guards. Throw out your plastic clipper guards.
-Many men prefer an upscale barbershop experience, some just don't know
until they go there. Give them coupons.
-Don't stress. This industry is stressful, but it's also really fun! And there is
always room to grow and learn more.
Good luck! Hope I answered your questions.

I'm 23 as of some months ago and I have the classical munk haircut. Not by
choice tho'.
When I was 17-18 I used a really hard wax called DAX that I suspect is maily to
blame for my premature hairloss, long with my father's poor genpool.
So my question is; What is the best thing to do to encourage growth in areas
where hair does not grow anymore?
enlace
[–] I_Am_Delilah [S] 5 puntos 2 meses atrás
Get new DNA
Just kidding, sort of. Once hair has stopped growing, the follicle is usually
dead, not always though. The follicles may be clogged, so a shampoo
formulated for men with hair loss will help unclog them.
Sometimes the follicle is just sort of "sickly", for this you could go to an
esthetician and get high frequency done to your scalp. It's pretty cheap and
only takes a few minutes. You'll need it done several times though.
Wear sunscreen on your head, eat healthy, drink water.
enlace padre

I might have lied abit. It does grow, but not like normal hair should. It's

enlace padre
[–] I_Am_Delilah [S] 2 puntos 2 meses atrás
The still applies, but you should look for estrogen in your diet. Many
products contain estrogen (like some plastic drinking bottles). Do
some research and see if you are exposing yourself to estrogen. This
will cause hairloss. If you get less exposure to estrogen, your hair will
probably grow back.

Thanks for asking this. People are really confused about this.
You should only wash your hair about once a week. Many people have oily
hair because they wash it every day. This removes all of the natural oils and
forces the scalp to overcompensate by constantly producing oil (sebum).
I wash my hair every 7 days. If you do this, your scalp will eventually
become far less oily.
Washing your hair every day can also dry the scalp, causing flakes. Then
people wash their hair more because it's "flaky", causing more flakes. It's a
never ending cycle. Just don't shampoo your hair so much.
You can run them hot water over your hair in the shower, and scrub with
your hands. Although, I personally don't even wet my hair between washing
(to avoid blow drying).
Side note: dandruff is an extremely rare condition. I have only seen it a few
times. It is something you should go to the doctor for. Head and Shoulders
is very bad for your scalp if you don't have dandruff (trust me, you don't).
Do not use dandruff shampoo unless your doctor tells you to.

I wash my hair every other day or less and it is still as oily as when I
washed it every day. I use Head and Shoulders for dandruff (edit: not
sure why you think dandruff is rare. I have gone to the doctor and told I
do, in fact, have it) and I don't usually use product in my hair. I do color
my hair about once every 2-3 months. I've gotten the 'dry shampoo', but
I haven't used it much (my daughter decided to play with it and use it all

My hair is thick and wavy, up to curly when it's not super washed, but when it's
freshly washed it's fluffy and not in individual bits like I like, so I have been
trying to ease into not washing with shampoo, by just using a tiny bit every
couple of days. But unfortunately I also have really oily skin and scalp, and I
just feel so gross. How can I have my hair like I like without being gross or
having to use hair products beyond shampoo and maybe conditioner? Maybe
that's not possible, on re-reading...
Will the oiliness get better with time? Is there like a ballpark figure for how
long it would take before it stops being gross? I originally washed every day,
noticed it looked a lot better when I did every other day.

A few split ends are fine. Everyone with long hair has then. No big deal. Get
some product that is made to sleek your hair. There is spray shine, or dry
oil. These will smooth your hair and make it shiny and even hide the split
ends.
Talk to your stylist about the layers. I don't know if your a boy or girl, but
boys should be careful with layers because it can look like a mullet.
Don't wash your hair everyday any more. It may seem greasy at first if
you've been washing your hair everyday, because your scalp is
overcompensating for all the shampoo removing your natural oils. Just wash
your hair every few days or once a week. Anytime you wash your hair,
condition it. On the days you don't wash it, brush it extra, to get the oils
from your scalp down to the ends of your hair.
Let me know,of you have any other questions.
Good luck!
