*1995, the award was given to New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani for his individual
efforts to improve lung health of his constituents and visitors to New York through a
ban on smoking in restaurants and public buildings.
*1996, the Partnering for World Health Award was received by attorneys general of
Mississippi, Arizona and Oklahoma for their activities in filing lawsuits against tobacco
companies to recover taxpayer costs of treating smoking-related disease.
