GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION
Introduction:
Sin is an inward spiritual attitude of rebellion towards God, which is
expressed in outward acts of disobedience. We are all sinners in this
way, and by our sinful lives we rob God of the Glory due to Him. Sin is
followed by three main consequences: First, inward spiritual death,
or alienation from God;
Second, the Physical Death of the body;
Third, final and eternal banishment from the presence of God
to a place of darkness and torment. CHRIST came to save us from
our sins. Himself without sin, He took our sins upon Him, died in our
place, and rose again from the dead, that we might be forgiven and
receive ETERNAL LIFE.
• Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
NOTES:
• Basically, man’s sin is his failure to fulfill his GOD given function.
Man was created to Glorify GOD. “He is the Image and glory of
GOD” (1 Corinthians 11:7). Any Behaviour of man that fails to
Glorify GOD is sinful.
• Unforgiven sin is the great barrier between GOD and man (Isaiah
59:2). When sin was put away by Christ on the Cross, the way
was opened for man to come back to GOD. Any barriers that now
remain are on man’s side, not on GOD’S.
9 "As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as
I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. 11
These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you,
and that your joy may be full. 12 This is My commandment, that you
love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one
than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. 14 You are My
friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call
you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing;
but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My
Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me, but I
chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and
that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in
My name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that
you love one another.
18 "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it
hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own.
Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the
world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I
said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they
persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word,
they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you
for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22
If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but
now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates Me hates
My Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works which
no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen
and also hated both Me and My Father. 25 But this happened that
the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, 'They hated
Me without a cause.'
26 "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the
Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will
testify of Me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have
been with Me from the beginning.
NOTES:
Answer: The Bible is clear that all people are God’s creation
(Colossians 1:16), but that only those who are born again are children
of God (John 1:12; John 11:52; Romans 8:16; 1 John 3:1-10).
NOTES:
• Genesis Chapter 3 reveals the root cause of all human sufferings,
and traces it back to the devil. Jesus Himself said of the devil:
“He was a murderer from the beginning” (John 8:44)
• If we trace all sickness back to its source, the devil is the sole
author of it. It is part of “the works of the devil”.
• All 3 persons of the GODHEAD are actively present in the Ministry
of Healing, The FATHER Anointed the SON with the SPIRIT. The
result : healing for all.
• Christ is the Perfect Manifestation of the FATHER’S will. This
applies to healing, as to all that Christ did.
• There is no record in the Gospels of any person who came to
Christ for healing, who was not healed.
• The unchanging Truth of the Gospel is based on the unchanging
nature of GOD Himself.
• “The Curse of the Law “ means the Curse that results from the
breaking of the Law. This curse is fully described in Deuteronomy
28:15 to 68. It includes every form of sickness.
• GOD sets forth 2 Opposite Pairs: either (a) “LIFE’ and
“BLESSING”; or (b) “DEATH” and “CURSING”. It is left to man to
choose.
NOTES:
• Psalm 33:6 describes the means used by GOD in creation: “By
the WORD of the LORD…and by the BREATH (+SPIRIT) of his
mouth.” All creation is by the WORD and the SPIRIT of GOD,
working together. The same is true of GOD’S re-creative work
of healing. This is done by His WORD and His SPIRIT working
together. The means by which we receive this work of healing
is our Faith.
• Proverbs 4:20-22. The alternative translation of “Health” is
“Medicine”. These verses are GOD’S Great “Medicine Bottle”.
However, this Medicine must be taken according to the
directions, which are fourfold: (1) “Attend..” (2) “Incline thine
ear” (be humble and teachable) (3)”Let them not depart from
thine eyes” (4) “Keep them in the midst of thine heart.” The 4
Channels to receive the Medicine are the MIND, the EARS, the
EYES, and the HEART.
• 2 Corinthians 4:10-11. GOD’S will is that the resurrection life
of Christ should be “MANIFESTED’ (+openly revealed) in our
“Mortal Flesh”. This is GOD’S provision of healing, health and
vitality for our bodies in this present life.
• Romans 10:17. First, GOD’S word produces “Hearing”. Then
out of “Hearing” there develops “Faith”. The process of
“hearing” is described in its 4 Phases in Proverbs 4:20-21
• In the New Testament, no one is sent out to preach without
also being commissioned to heal and to deliver from evil
spirits. With Matthew 10:8 compare with Matthew 28:20.
“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have
commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the
end of the World” (=this present age). Christ made provision
that exactly the same ministry which He instituted with the
first 12 Disciples should be continued unchanged by each
succeeding generation of disciples until the present age.
• JESUS Himself practiced fasting and He expected His Disciples
to follow Him in this also (Matthew 6:16 to 18). However, the
disciples did not do this as long as Jesus (“The Bridegroom”)
remained with them on Earth (Mark 2:18-20)
• The Ministry of Jesus is the pattern for all Christian Ministry.
The Holy Spirit, sent by Jesus after He had returned to the
Father, performs these works, promised by Jesus, through His
believing disciples.
• The promises of Mark 16:17-18 apply generally to “them that
believe” – to all Believers.
• A sick Christian who does not call for the elders of the Church
is disobedient.
• Acts 4:30 is still a pattern prayer for the Christian church.
WHAT IS FAITH?
Hebrews 11: 1 -40 NKJV
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. 3
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of
God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things
which are visible.
4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain,
through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God
testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. 5 By
faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "and was
not found, because God had taken him"; for before he was taken he
had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is
impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe
that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek
Him. 7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen,
moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his
household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of
the righteousness which is according to faith.
8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the
place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out,
not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he dwelt in the land of
promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and
Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he waited for
the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. 11
By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and
she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged
Him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and
him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in
multitude--innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but
having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them
and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
14 For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a
homeland. 15 And truly if they had called to mind that country from
which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to
return. 16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country.
Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has
prepared a city for them.
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he
who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, 18
of whom it was said, "In Isaac your seed shall be called," 19
concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead,
from which he also received him in a figurative sense. 20 By faith
Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. 21 By faith
Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and
worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff. 22 By faith Joseph, when
he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of
Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones.
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by
his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they
were not afraid of the king's command. 24 By faith Moses, when he
became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to
enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the reproach of
Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to
the reward. 27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of
the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible. 28 By faith
he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who
destroyed the firstborn should touch them. 29 By faith they passed
through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians,
attempting to do so, were drowned.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled
for seven days. 31 By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with
those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with
peace. 32 And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to
tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David
and Samuel and the prophets: 33 who through faith subdued
kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the
mouths of lions, 34 quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge
of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in
battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. 35 Women received
their dead raised to life again. And others were tortured, not
accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.
36 Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of
chains and imprisonment. 37 They were stoned, they were sawn in
two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered
about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted,
tormented-- 38 of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered
in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. 39 And all
these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not
receive the promise, 40 God having provided something better for
us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.
NOTES:
• It is perfectly clear that Jesus accepted the Old Testament
Scriptures, without question or reservation, as the inspired,
Authoritative Word of GOD. He based all His Teaching on these
Scriptures, and directed the whole course of His own Life to Obey
and fulfill them.
• GOD’S WORD originates in Heaven. Men were the channels
through whom this Word was given, but GOD Himself is the
source of it.
• “By inspiration of GOD” = Literally “GOD-inbreathed”. The Words
“Breath” and “Spirit” are the same in both Hebrew and Greek.
• The “Incorruptible Seed” of GOD’S WORD, received by Faith in
the heart, and caused to germinate there by the Holy Spirit,
brings forth Divine, Eternal, Incorruptible Life.
• Note: “ALL, Scripture” (2 Timothy 3:16), “EVERY Word” (Matthew
4:40. For full spiritual development, a Christian must study and
apply the teachings of the whole Bible.
• GOD’S WORD provides food suited to every stage of spiritual
development; (1)”MILK” for New Born Babes (1 Peter 2:2)
(2)’BREAD’ for those growing up (Matthew 4:4) (3) “STRONG
MEAT” (Full Diet) for those who are “of full age” (Spiritual
maturity) (Hebrews 5:12-14)
• Someone has said: Either GOD’S WORD will keep you from sin, or
sin will keep you from GOD’S WORD.”
• In Ephesians 6:13-17 Paul Lists 6 items of Spiritual Armour which
provide the Christian with complete protection, but of them all
there is only one weapon of attack “The Sword of the Spirit”. It is
the responsibility of each believer to “take” this Sword. *Refer: (2
Corinthians 10:3-6)
• GOD’S WORD provides for the spirit, the mind and the body of
the Christian.
• Only through GOD’S WORD do we come to know what is our
rightful inheritance in Christ, and how to obtain that inheritance.
• “The keeping of GOD’S WORD is the Supreme distinguishing
feature which should mark you out from the World as a Disciples
of Christ. (“Your attitude towards GOD’S WORD is your attitude
towards GOD Himself. )
• Through GOD’S WORD, believed and obeyed, GOD’S own nature
permeates the heart and life of the Christian, replacing the old
corrupt Adamic nature.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
Introduction:
In all His Earthly Ministry JESUS was Completely Dependent upon the
HOLY SPIRIT. Before The HOLY SPIRIT descended upon Him at the river
JORDAN, He never preached a sermon or performed a miracle. After
that, all He did was by the POWER of The HOLY SPIRIT. When He was
about to leave His disciples, He promised from Heaven He would send
The HOLY SPIRIT to them in their turn, to be their COMFORTER and to
SUPPLY All their SPIRITUAL Needs. This PROMISE was FULFILLED on the
DAY of PENTECOST when they were ALL BAPTISED in The HOLY SPIRIT.
NOTE: The two English expressions “HOLY SPIRIT” and “HOLY GHOST”
are two different ways of translating one and the same expression in

through the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT? (Acts 2:7-8)
Speaking in the Tongues (Languages) of the Countries in

His CHILDREN who ASK Him for it? (Luke 11:13)
The Holy Spirit
NOTES:
• The English word “CHRIST’ is taken from a Greek word which
means “Anointed”. It thus corresponds exactly to the Hebrew
title, “Messiah”, which also means “Anointed”. In historical
experience Jesus became the “Messiah”, the “Anointed One”,
when the HOLY SPIRIT descended and abode upon Him, after His
Baptism by JOHN the BAPTIST. The Title “Christ”, or “Messiah”,
indicates that the whole earthly ministry of JESUS was possible
by the “Anointing” of the HOLY SPIRIT. It is GOD’S purpose that
the same “Anointing” of the HOLY SPIRIT should be the abiding
portion of all Christians. “Now he which established us with you
in Christ, and hath anointed us, is GOD”. (2 Corinthians 1:21).
“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in
you…” (1 John 2:27). “Christians” are literally “Anointed ones”.
For effective Christian living, the disciple is as much dependent
upon the Holy Spirit, as JESUS Himself was.
• “COMFORTER” = “ADVOCATE” > “ONE called alongside”. The
same word is used of JESUS in 1 John 2:1. Christ pleads the cause
of the Believer in Heaven (Hebrews 7:25). The HOLY SPIRIT,
through the Believer, pleads the cause of Christ on earth
(Matthew 10:19-20).
• In John 16:7 JESUS said: “It is expedient for you that I go away:
for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you: but if I
depart, I will send Him unto you.” When JESUS returned to
heaven and sent the HOLY SPIRIT upon the Disciples, they
immediately received a better knowledge and understanding of
JESUS Himself, than they had had all the time that He was
actually present with them on Earth. Thus the HOLY SPIRIT
fulfilled His Ministry to reveal, interpret and glorify the person,
the work and the message of Christ.
• JOHN the BAPTIST’S introduction of JESUS as “The BAPTISER in
the HOLY SPIRIT” is placed at the forefront of all 4 gospels. The
New Testament places the greatest possible emphasis upon this
aspect of Christ‘s Ministry. The Christian Church should do the
same.
• By His death on the cross, JESUS purchased for every Believer
the Gift of the HOLY SPIRIT (Galatians 3:13-14). After His
Resurrection and Ascension, it was His unique privilege to
receive this Gift from the FATHER and to bestow it upon His
Disciples.
• All through the New Testament the Baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT is
attested by the SUPERNATURAL EVIDENCE of SPEAKING in
TONGUES.
• At the close of this Age GOD has Promised a Final, WORLDWIDE
Outpouring of the HOLY SPIRIT. Every Christian has the Scriptural
Right to ASK GOD for this GIFT.

NOTES:
• “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh”
(Matthew 12:34). The first outflow of the HOLY SPIRIT is from the
Believer’s mouth.
• Through the Ministry of Philip, multitudes in Samaria had been
wonderfully saved and healed. But this was not sufficient for the
apostles. They expected all new converts to receive the Baptism
in the HOLY SPIRIT. This came to these converts in SAMARIA
through the Ministry of PETER and JOHN, as a separate
experience, subsequent to SALVATION.
• Laying on of hands to impart the HOLY SPIRIT was not confined
to Apostles. ANANIAS is merely called a “Disciples” (Acts 9:10).
Nor is laying of on of hands always needed to impart the HOLY
SPIRIT. In Acts 2:2-4 and Acts 10:44-46 the Believers received
without any laying of hands.
• At EPHESUS, as at SAMARIA, these Disciples received the
Baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT as a separate experience,
subsequent to Salvation. As in Acts 2:4 and Acts 10:46. their
experience culminated in speaking with other tongues (and also,
in this case, Prophesying)
• After receiving the Baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT, the primary use
of speaking in another tongue is for personal Worship and Prayer
The Believer does not understand with his mind what he is
saying, but his spirit holds direct communion with GOD, and in
this way he is able to Edify (build) himself.
• Throught the Gift of Interpretation Christians may come to know
the meaning of an utterance previously given in an unknown
tongue. In Public Meetings an utterance given out loud in an
unknown tongue should normally be followed by the
interpretation. If there is no one to interpret, the Believer may
speak in an unknown tongue “to himself and to GOD”.
• To “Prophesy” is to speak by the Supernatural Inspiration of the
HOLY SPIRIT in a Language understood by the speaker and by
those spoken to.
• There is an important logical distinction between “Gifts” and
“Fruit”. A “Gift’ is imparted and received by a momentary act.
“Fruit” is cultivated by the time and labour (2 Timothy 2:6).
Consider the difference between a Christmas tree with its Gifts,
and an Apple tree with its Fruit. Spiritually, gifts are not
substitute for Fruit, and Fruit is not a substitute for Gifts. GOD’S
Provision is for all Christians to have both. (Note that Love is
never called a “Gift”).
• The full outpouring of the HOLY SPIRIT always produces a variety
of Supernatural Manifestations. Through these, Christians are
able to minister to one another on a level higher than that of
Natural ability or education.
WORSHIP AND PRAYER
Introduction:
PRAYER is the great means by which CHRISTIANS come into the
presence of GOD, to WORSHIP HIM, and to RECEIVE from HIM the
GUIDANCE, the HELP, and the STRENGTH which they need at ALL
TIMES. Every Christian should set aside regular times each day, to
spend in personal prayer and BIBLE reading. The most POWERFUL and
INFLUENTIAL PERSON in the WORLD is the CHRISTIAN who knows how
to PRAY and get his PRAYERS ANSWERED. To be able to pray in this
way we must follow carefully the instructions of GOD’S WORD, which
are set out in this study, and we must have the help of the HOLY
SPIRIT.
NOTES:
• The whole BIBLE and specially the New Testament emphasizes
both the willingness and the ability of GOD to answer prayer
(Matthew 7:7, 8) Indeed, GOD is more willing to answer prayer,
than men are to pray. However, in order to receive the answers
to our prayers, we must meet the conditions stated in GOD’S
WORD.
• ACCESS ONLY THROUGH CHRIST. As sinners, we can be
reconciled to GOD only through the propitiatory sacrifice and the
mediatorial ministry of Christ. In recognition of this, we come to
GOD through the Name and the Blood of JESUS.
• RIGHT APPROACH: Worship, Thanksgiving, Praise.
• RIGHT CHARACTER: Truth, Uprightness, Righteousness,
Obedience (all possible only as we “Abide in Christ”).
• RIGHT MOTIVE: for GOD’S Glory, not to gratify our own lusts.
• RIGHT RELATIONSHIPS with other people, especially those
closest to us.
• Praying ACCORDING TO GOD’S WILL, revealed in His WORD.
• APPROPRIATING BY FAITH the answer to our prayer at the actual
moment that we Pray. “Now is the accepted time” (2 Corinthians
6:2)
• REGULARITY and PERSISTENCE (Luke 18:1-8)
• FERVENCY, SELFDENIAL, COMMITMENT.
• In all this, we cannot rely merely upon our own will,
understanding or strength, but we must have the
SUPERNATURAL, HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
• The REWARDS for right praying.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk
as children of light 9(for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness,
righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the
Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness,
but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those
things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things that are
exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest
is light. 14 Therefore He says:
15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16
redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be
unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be
drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks
always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.
NOTES:
• Although Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, He was not in
the same class as all the others whom John baptized. John’s
baptism was a “baptism of repentance”, accompanied by
confession of sins (Mark 1:4, 5). But Jesus had no sins to confess,
or repent of. Rather, by being baptized in this way, Jesus set a
pattern for all who would afterward follow Him in Obedience to
the will of GOD. This is indicated by the reason which Jesus gave:
“There it becometh us to fulfill All Righteousness.” Thus”
establishes the manner of Baptism: going down into, and coming
up out of, the water. “It becometh us” establishes a precedent,
which it becomes all sincere Christians to follow, “To fulfill all
righteousness” First, the Christian is made righteous through his
faith in Christ. Then, in being baptized, he completes this inward
righteousness of faith by the outward act of obedience. Thus
understood, this ordinance of Christian Baptism has the openly
expressed approval of all 3 Persons of the GODHEAD: FATHER,
SON and SPIRIT.
• Before being Baptized, a person should fulfill the following 3
conditions: (1) Be taught the nature and the reason of the act;
(2) Repent of his sins; (3) Believe in JESUS CHRIST as the SON of
GOD.
• JESAUS told His Disciples that this ordinance of Baptism was to
be for “All Nations”. There were to be no exceptions. In
fulfillment of this, the New Testament record shows that all new
converts were always Baptized without delay. In most cases this
took place on the actual day of conversion. Never was there any
lengthy delay between Conversion and Baptism. There is no
reason why this pattern should not be followed now, just as much
as in the early Church.
• By Baptism Christians publicly identify themselves with Christ in
His Burial and Resurrection. After Baptism, they are required to
lead a New Life of Righteousness, made possible by the Grace
and Power of the HOLY SPIRIT.
• 1 Corinthians 10:1-2 presents a Double Baptism for GOD’S
People, “In the Cloud and in the Sea”. Baptism “In the Cloud”
typifies Baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT. Baptism “In the Sea” typifies
Baptism in WATER.
• By Faith NOAH and his Family entered into the Ark (=Christ).
Then, in the Ark, they passed through the Water of the Flood
(=Baptism). They were thus saved from GOD’S Judgment,
separated from the Old Ungodly world, and ushered into a
completely New life.

NOTES:
• Christians are not intended to be witnesses primarily to a
doctrine, an experience, or a denomination, but to CHRIST
HIMSELF. Jesus said; “I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw
all men unto me” (john 12:32). Christian testimony should uplift
Jesus. To do this effectively, it must be directed and empowered
by the HOLY SPIRIT.
• Compare Acts 1:21-22 and Acts 4:33. The central fact of all
testimony concerning Christ is HIS RESURRECTION from the
dead.
• PAUL’S Testimony is a pattern for all Christians. It was based on
personal experience; it pointed to Christ; it confirmed the record
of the scriptures.
• Faithful personal testimony is the most effective way to win other
souls to Christ.
• Although PETER later became the acknowledged leader among
the apostles and the chief preacher, it was his brothe5r ANDREW
who first came to Christ, and then brought PETER in turn. Later,
PHILIP in the same way brought NATHANEL. Thus the pattern of
individual and soul-winning is set by the apostles themselves.
• A Christian conversation should be positive, glorifying GOD, and
building his own faith and that of others.
• The Greatest hindrance to effective Christian testimony is “the
spirit of fear” (Timidity). The BIBLE teaches clearly that this spirit
does not come from GOD, and that a Christian should not allow
himself to be ensnared or bound by it. The remedy is to be filled
with the HOLY SPIRIT.
• Prayer is the Great Weapon given to Christians to break down
the barriers to their Testimony.
• Like EZEKIEL in the Old Testament, PAUL in the New Testament
understood that he would be held accountable by GOD for those
to whom he had been given opportunity to testify. He understood
also that he was required by GOD to “Keep back nothing”, but to
declare “all the counsel of GOD”. GOD still requires the same
from Christians today.
24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and
love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.
25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will
eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is
not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at
the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns;
yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than
they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28
So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field,
how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that
even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now
if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is
thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little
faith? 31 Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What
shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 "For after all these things
the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all
these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His
righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore
do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own
things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
NOTES:
• THE practice of “Tithing “did not begin with the Law of MOSES.
The first person recorded in the Bible as giving tithes is
ABRAHAM. In Romans 4:11-12. ABRAHAM is called “the father of
all them that believe.. who also walk in the steps of that faith of
our father ABRAHAM.” Believers who give their Tithes to GOD
today are certainly “walking in the steps of the faith of
ABRAHAM.”
• The priest to whom ABRAHAM gave Tithes was MELCHIZEDEK. In
Hebrews Chapters 5, 6, 7, it is shown that Christ is Our Great
“High Priest’ after the order of MELCHIZEDEK.” In this capacity,
He still receives the Tithes of His Believing people.
• Both ABRAHAM and JACOB experience GOD’S material blessings
as a result of their tithing. In Genesis 32:10 JACOB says “With my
staff I passed over JORDAN, and now I am become two bands.”
When JACOB started to give Tithes to GOD, he owned nothing but
the staff in his hand. “Twenty years later he was prosperous
head of a large and flourishing household.
• Outward circumstances cannot prevent GOD from keeping His
promises. Even in the prison JOSEPH prospered. Much more so,
when he became prime minister of EGYPT. JOSEPH’S prosperity
was the outworking of his character and his relationship to GOD.
• JOSHUA was called to lead GOD’S people into “the promised
land”. Today Christians are called to enter “a land of promises”.
Then and now, the conditions for success are the same.
• From DAVID to the BABYLONIAN captivity, GOD prospered every
King of JUDAH who was obedient to the Law and faithful in the
service of the Temple.
• Unfaithfulness by GOD’S people in giving to GOD can bring a
National Curse. This Principle still applies Today.
• The only basis of Righteousness acceptable to GOD is FAITH.
“Whatsoever is not of Faith is sin” (Romans 14:23). Compare
Hebrews 11:6. This principle applies in our financial dealings as
much as in every other part of our life.
• According to the Bible poverty is a curse. Deuteronomy 28:15-68
lists all the curses that result from breaking GOD’S Law. In verse
48 the following are included: “Thou shalt serve tine enemies…in
hunger…in thirst…in nakedness …in want of all things.” This is
absolute poverty. On the cross Christ took upon Himself every
one of these curses (Galatians 3:13, 14). He was hungry, thirsty,
naked, in want of all things. He did this that Believers might in
return receive GOD’S Abundant Provision for every need.
(Philippians 4:19)
• Christians should give in the same way that a farmer sows a
seed > carefully, intelligently, in the area calculated to yield the
best returns for GOD’S KINGDOM.
• PROSPERITY is GOD’S will for His Believing, Obedient People.
NOTES:
Greetings.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3
knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let
patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete,
lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who
gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a
wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man
suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-
minded man, unstable in all his ways.
9 Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, 10 but the rich in his
humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away. 11 For
no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the
grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich
man also will fade away in his pursuits.
12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been
approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised
to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am
tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He
Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn
away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has
conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings
forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every
good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from
the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of
turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth,
that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels
with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations
will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from
another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He
will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then
the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My
Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of
the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and
you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was
naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in
prison and you came to Me.' 37 "Then the righteous will answer Him,
saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and
give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or
naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison,
and come to You?' 40 "And the King will answer and say to them,
'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of
these My brethren, you did it to Me.' 41 "Then He will also say to those
on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire
prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave
Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger
and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and
in prison and you did not visit Me.' 44 "Then they also will answer Him,
saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or
naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?' 45 "Then He
will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did
not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' 46 "And
these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into
eternal life."
