Augusta University’s Department of Social Sciences and its NASPAA-accredited
Master of Public Administration Program is seeking to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2019. We seek individuals who can teach courses in the MPA program and have an active research agenda in areas of public policy and administration. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching including integrating service learning projects into coursework, potential for excellence in research including writing and securing grants, and an interest in online instruction.
Augusta University is a student-centered comprehensive research university
and academic health center with over 9,000 students and 1,200 faculty members committed to providing leadership and excellence in teaching, discovery, clinical care, and service. The Department of Social Sciences includes over 400 majors in undergraduate degrees in Sociology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, and Political Science along with the MPA and a newly created Master of Arts in Intelligence and Security Studies. Our MPA program, with over 50 current students and 7 affiliated faculty members, is accredited and respected in the field of public affairs. We are located on the beautiful Summerville campus in a building that was newly remodeled in fall 2016.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must hold, at time of
appointment, a PhD in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field, and have an identifiable research agenda and publishing program. Successful candidates will be able to teach coursework in the Department’s MPA program. All specializations and subfields in public administration or public policy will be considered but preferences will be given to candidates with a research agenda and/or professional background in urban planning and/or economic community development.
