Rotational Scan Quick reference guide

Rotational Scan
Allura Xper FD10/FD20
I Rotational scan with free set up of geometry positions

Prior to performing any Rotational scan procedure; the next steps are mandatory:
1. Position the patient properly.
2. Avoid ECG cables, drips or other wires in the BodyGuard sensor field.
3. Use designated mattress and headrest to avoid collision.

The FD systems allow rotational scan acquisition using:

I. Free set up of geometry positions
II. Fixed programmed geometry positions, in combination with 3D-RA

Follow the next steps for an easy preparation to a free set up of geometry
positions for a rotational scan.
Float table top
A Establish isocenter in frontal plane using
the float table top button.
B Establish isocenter in lateral plane using
only the longitudinal movement (lateral
lock / float table top) or the table height
button.

D Determine the end position pressing the Recall I – button or manually set
the geometry using the joystick.
E Confirm end position pressing the Store I – button.
F Determine the start position pressing the Recall II – button or manually set
the geometry using the joystick.
G Confirm start position pressing the Store II – button.

Note: If the LED’s remain blinking, the movement cannot be executed due to collision. In that case,
select another procedure than the current one and return to step A.

H Prepare injector profile if necessary.

I Activate image acquisition / injection using the hand- or footswitch. Keep it
pressed until the geometry setting has returned to start position.

II Rotational scan in combination with 3D-RA

Follow the next steps for an easy preparation to a rotational scan acquisition,
and optimal 3D-RA results.

A Establish isocenter in frontal plane using the float table top button.
B Establish isocenter in lateral plane using only the longitudinal movement
(lateral lock / float table top) or the table Float table top

height button.

C Select desired procedure on the Xper

module.

F Prepare injector profile if necessary.

G Activate image acquisition / injection using the hand- or footswitch. Keep it
pressed until the geometry setting has returned to start position.
H In case subtraction images are required it is advised to perform a rotational scan
without contrast first, followed by the same procedure step with the addition of
injecting contrast.

Note: In case the hand- or footswitch has been released before the geometry has returned to the
start position, return to step D.

After the images are acquired, the images are automatically transferred to the
3D-RA workstation.

Helpful hints

1. Keep objects clear of a rotating geometry to avoid collision.

2. Contrast medium with a concentration of at least 240 mg/ml should be
used to ensure a proper opacification of the vessels.
3. To ensure the vessels are completely filled with contrast, use an arrival time
of 1 second.
4. For a rotational scan using the roll movement, the contrast injection
duration should be programmed for at least 6 seconds.
5. For a rotational scan using the propeller movement, the contrast injection
duration should be programmed for at least 5 seconds.
