Political Development and Modernization

Development has become the objective of every nation-state. Through the start of
industrialization and other means that had contributed to the largely rising maxim of
capitalism, development has been on its ends, may that be a just experience or suffering
endured by most conquered states.

Different paths aiming for development will rise and come, eventually, because of the
already existing competition brought by different International relations theories and the
historical background of each developing nation that had shaped the current system.

The large use of technological advancements would be of a great effect in the

contestations of development in different nations. Given that there’s a brief historical
significance of the three dominant theories in this course, namely, modernization,
development and world system, the lapses on each stated theories and hegemony on
each interior aspect would best explain the wide spread of different developmental
conducts, globally. Looking into the dependency lens, the infamous mean that had greatly
contributed to the rise and development of the already developed and established
Superpowers is the exploitation of the latter to the periphery. The core, needing more
resources for the development, ‘contentment’ and beneficiary of their country has found
its way on coping up with these, depriving the periphery of development of their own,
thus, allowing global inequality practiced by their bloc.

The existence of global inequality has garnered disagreement worldwide. The world,
composed of many poor nation-states and very little rich states during the cold war has
stressed the rampant rise of the inequality. Choosing between the two major economic
bases, (Capitalism and Communism) and being identified in a bloc is just the start of the
separation of interests and summarized the widely and wildly emphasis of the definition
and perception as to which country is to be neutralized with.

In a simpler matter, this course had taught me lots of knowledge in the exterior part of
Politics that had shaped the interior political, socio and economic aspect of my own
country. Learning major theories in this subject and relating it to the historical contexts of
each country-state really helped me in understanding and explaining the very root cause
of the decision making in our own realm, thus, I could say that in the International arena,
everything political is caused by the interior economic base of each country and not just
the actors playing their roles.
