6
2.Positioning For Profit

So what's the big opportunity!

 There are around 400 million tweets sent every day

 3 million blog post per day

 Around 56m photos uploaded to instagram per day

 100 billion emails sent every day

 There are billion websites online

 $135b spent on display advertisement every year

What I mean by display advertisement is banners, buttons, the

bars etc.
Don’t worry we are not going to run any kind of marketing agency
or account management kind of things. So can you guess what is
common in all the above statements?
The one thing that they have in common, which is a huge
opportunity is that they all requires Images and Artwork.
If you are doing ads you need banners, for email graphical
elements etc. You get the picture there is lot of demand. Now you
are thinking I am not a graphic designer is this really for me. Well
the good news is now in today’s digital connected economy you
don’t need to be a graphic designer. You don’t even need to go
to fiverr and resource somebody. I am going to give you a layout
on the absolute closest thing you can get to a business in a box

7
right now.
Before we go into that we need to understand the pain points and
the problems current clients have in getting their artwork done.

How they currently get their artwork done.

Spend lot of money and often get very little in return. May be they
want some nice banners, power point presentation, some
emails, brochures done for them. These thing can be really
really expensive for business and there is huge amount of
inconsistency in the quality that comes through. Your client
can find a graphic designer which is really good at banner
designs but if they are asked to make social media profile they
really suck at it.
There is lot of inconsistency and lot of money can get wasted to
find the right graphic designer to get all the types of design
work done. This will waste hours and hours of clients time
They jam up valuable in house resources with non specialized tasks.
This type of work is not most productive kind for their business
They often get poor and or inconsistent work completed. If they
are using freelancer and if freelancer is busy it will take around
3-4 days to complete a single banner. To run a good business
you need reliability and consistency
They can pay between $25 and $200 per hour for the work to be
completed. I can tell from my personal experience working
with companies, $200 per hour for a design work is not an
unusual amount.
They waste lot of time and money in this whole process. All this
leads to an increasing level of frustration.

8
What Your Clients Need
• They need a dedicated point of contact, They don’t need a
big agency where every time they put request there is new
account handler
• A streamlined process for getting jobs done. When we say
streamlined what they want is send an email and get return
email with their artwork done.
• Unlimited revisions. They want to be able to revise the stuff and
not billed extra for it. They may need some tweaks in the
designs
• Next day turnaround or fast turnaround. They want to make
sure the campaign is live quickly. Many a times their graphic
designer is tied up with another work. This can jam up whole
business process.
• Fixed or predictable costs.
• They need a scalable solution. If their demand for extra artwork
is increasing gradually month by month they don’t want a
constantly escalating bills.
• No Long term contract. Having short term contracts is really
good for us. This will make much easier for us to sell our solution
to them.

How do we Profit from this?

 Not with inconsistent fiverr gigs- We are not going to

provide our clients any real solution using fiverr gigs. We are
not after some quick money we are looking for a reliable
consistent recurring source of income. People are going to
book a lot of artwork. With fiverr strategy we really can not

9
scale.

 Not with expensive agency retainer.

 Not by hiring staff just to do this. You are not going to

do this by hiring staff initially. Once you are at certain level
and doing $10k, $15k per month with this business then may
be hiring a staff would be a suitable solution for you.

 Not by doing it by yourself. May be you are good

designer but to earn big money you need to handle lot of
clients which is impossible with doing work by yourself.

 Not by hiring a freelancer for each and every job or

each client. Yes we can do that but it only work for short
term. We can not build a real successful business with
it.Freelancer are still inconsistent and unreliable with time.

 By having a trusted reliable source to get it all done

for you at a fixed cost no matter the volume of work that
you put through them

With one low fee each month you can offer

 Brochures
 Facebook graphics
 Banner ads
 T-shirts
 Signage
 E-book covers
 Event flyers
 Sales sheets

10
 Social media graphics
 Promotional items
 PowerPoint backgrounds
 Blog graphics
 Website graphics
 Business cards
 Email graphics
 letterhead
You may be wondering who can do above all this for you with
very low fee and unlimited design request and revicions.

Meet Your Business Partners

1. designpickle.com- Unlimited graphic design help- These are

professional people. I have great result with them. There are
certain limitations.
They do not support the following requests:
● Original logos or branding
● Video / motion graphics
● Illustrations / infographics
● Heavy photo manipulation
● Large copy-heavy layout or InDesign projects
● 3D / CAD
● HTML / CSS / UI / UX / web, mobile or app design
● Programming/coding
Anyway we are not looking for original brand design work. This is
exactly what we need. Don’t get hung up on what you can not
do there are plenty of buyers in the market for our type of service.
If anyone is asking for brand work , you can upsell your service.

11
2. undullify.com- Very similar to designpickel. But they are strict
about what amount of work they can do. You can not hammer
with lot of tasks. You can request one task at a time.
They have large no. Of plans for starter you can use undullify and
once you get enough customer you can go with design pickle.

We don’t endorse this service, but they work well with our kind of
buisness. There is nothing illegal in buy low and sell high method.
Whole makret works around this concept.
We are adding values to the service we are offering.

Take a look around these websites. There are more websites which
offer similar services but my personal advice is to go with above
websites.

12
3 . H o w t o s e l l

Before we look for the client.

Know your numbers.

How to get maximum profit and minimise work.

1. You sell this service to 6 clients who each pay $500- You
might think people will not pay this much, but based on my
experience $500 is very cheap for the business which we are
targeting
2. You pay just $400 - designpickle or undullify sevice charge
(maximum) per month to get the work done for those 6 clients
3. So your gross income is $3000 p/m
4. You net income would be $2600 after cutting charges from
designpickle / undullify.
5. Your workload = approx 1 hour depending upon how you
follow the instruction.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So how many people do you need to speak to and offer this
to?
Our figure is 18. If we get 18 people on the phone in this niche
we close 6 clients. You can scale it easily depending upon
the management tactics you use.
As you are new in this market, probably you will need to
spaek to more clients, or may be you are not great at sales
your conversion ration can be 20 %, but that’s okay. I have
got cool tricks for you.
Don’t worry about conversation with customers because with
conversation you get to know whole bunch of new things
from your prospect which can lead you to another opportnity

I prefer to go on phone to get my customers, I have found

better results with it. You are always welcome to go with
online marketing, email marketing any method you like
If you get 2 clients then it is very esay to get 4 more clients to
ring you.
We are not going to be very salesy.
We are going to contact only those person who are looking
for our service.
-So if you need to get 2 customers, and you are the worst
sales person on the planet you can close 10% right.
Then you need to have 20 conversation to get 2 clients. Right?
Is it worth speaking to 20 clients for $3k per month?

xiv
I will say definitely yes.

For those who have already seeing the big picture here
● 6 clients gets you $3000 p/m ($36000 per year)
● 10 clients get you $5000 p/m ($60000 per year)
● 15 clients get you $7500 p/m ($90000 per year)
● 25 clients get you $12,500 p/m ($150,000 per year)

That’s not bad income for the amount of work we are doing.

Value for your clients

If you go to gotprint.com - they charge a $59 for creating just
a business cards , also vistaprint - $179 for creating just a flyer.
You are seeing the value.
Here we are not approaching those clients who have one or
two design a month, they are not our client. Let them pay $80
for a single artwork.

xv
3 . P i n p o i n t i n g v a l u a b l e
P r o s p e c t s

No Point in casting a wide net

- Only focus on those clients that have a need and desire for
your service
- We are looking for very small no.of customers
-Approaching local business is OK, but there are better ways
-You have to approach them with an offer that makes sense
to them
Look for frustrations your prospects are facing. Look at the
partner website for creating a sales script for yourself.
Never offer anything for free to your customer you can always
give them discount. Dollar is lot better than free

These are good prospect

- Bloggers- Who publish lot of content and have 20 to 30
blogposts in a month. Active bloggers
-Startups
-Online advertisers and marketing professionals
-Local business who advertise out of home or direct mail
-Restaurants- They always do new things
-Hardware / building supplies
-Professional services- they always need some presentation,
banners, graphic designs etc.
-Estate agents
-Auto dealerships- franchises are good

xvi
Lot of above prospect do their artwork from printer and they
charge minimum $40 for an artwork. So it make sense for
them to use our service.

These are GREAT prospect

-Digital Marketing Agencies- they will have somebody but if

you find good digital agency who are always busy, and
under resource. If they try to outsource a junior designer it will
cost them minimum $20k or $30k per year for them you are
offering the service only for $6k a year.
-Web development agencies- they may be great in
developing but require a designer
-PR agency- They often manage large social media accounts
-Printers
-Signage companies
-Promotional good companies
-Charities- don’t go for big charities they have budget in
millions for artwork.

Above are the great prospect. It is not necessary to rely solely

on above list. You can contact any business that you think will
be a good prospect.

4 . B u i l d i n g Y o u r B r a n d

Building your brand the right way

What do yo need to be up and running

3. Hosting
4. Email
5. Social Media Profiles
6. Website

related to our service (design, artwork etc.) and select a
domain which sounds good to you. Don’t overthink
Register your domain via 1&1 or godaddy. Have a 3 Page

fancy looking website. Our target is to earn with very little
investment.

on setting up a business you can use a professional service.

The Definitive Guide to Getting It All Done For You

To make this as streamlined as possible you will need to follow
a simple plan of what to do and when, we think this is the
quickest way of getting yourself up and running

1. Research business and domain name – Use

www.namemesh.com

2. Order domain names and hosting – Remember you need

to make sure email accounts are included in with your hosting

3. Set up your professional email – your

name@yourdomain.com

19
4. Use your business email and register your social profiles -
Facebook, Twitter, G+, LinkedIn

5. Write a headline and value proposition for your website

6. Order your logo to be created – think of using top rated

sellers on sites like Fivver.com

7. Set up your payment gateway so you can start taking

money from clients

8. Approve your logo design

9. Choose another freelance to set your Wordpress site up –

loads of free templates at wordpress.org, premium themes at
themeforest.net, or just get you freelancer to do you one.

10. Pass your logo files to your website freelancer to add to

your site

11. Approve all of the work

12. Go get a nice cold beer or cup of coffee, you’re done!

20
5. Getting your first $3000

Ask questions - get leads

1. Spend time identifying prospects- I have given the

prospect list in previous chapter. You can go to yellow pages
or search around nearby businesses who you think will be
great fit for you.

2. Speak to prospects and ask for help

3. Ask a lot of question

4. Do not sell

5. Record the hot Prospect

While targeting any country always keep in mind what is the

current time in that country. This will help you while calling
them or sending an email.

How to find the customers?

Choose your industry or city which you want to target.

Go in search mode. There are different methods to find

the leads. Google, Linkedin, Yellowpages, manta.com,
yelp

2. You can look in creiglist or angel.co and find

businesses which are in need of graphic designers (job
portals). Contact them directly.

21
Tools you will need

Sidekick - this plugin will help you to know if the person has
opened your email or not

Google sheet - to track customers and store their info

Rebtel- This is an app . The call rates are very low for
international calling. $2 unlimited call rates for US and many
countries

How to contact

How to contact

There are 2 methods

1. Telecalling

2. Email

We will first start with calling.

What to speak- How to start the conversation?

While calling don’t start with your sales pitch.

You can use following method.

1st Call

Tell them you are a small business/ startup and you are

22
just starting out.” I was asking about an advice, I was
wondering if you could help me.”

Then start with following questions.

1. How do you feel about your current designing work /

Art work?

2. What do you don’t like in your current designs?

3. What are your needs from current designers?

Try to ask yes or no questions. Generate your own questions.

Remember - don’t try to sell them anything at this point.

If anybody is asking for pricing plans tell them - “sir we are

gathering info from business and streamlining our process. We
will get back to you within 2 days”

Or If you found out that the prospect is really hot and is willing
to take action right now, you can tell them “sir we are a team
of professional designers and we provide on demand
graphic designs on monthly basis. You will be assigned a
dedicated graphic designer and you can send them design
request daily.

We will complete your designs in 24 hours. “

I encourage you to make your own version or modify it

according to your needs

2nd call

After 2 days call them and tell them “sir as promised we have
just launched and we have 2 spots left for this month. Could

23
you give us a try?

Is there any reason if we gave you the service at $500 you

wouldn’t do business with us?

So when should we get started on implementation. If we give

you some discount will that convince you to sign the contract
today?

The importance of networking

Search for local networking groups in your area. Identify 5

groups that are local to you. Which have lot of members,
and welcomes new members without any commitment.
Professional meet ups will work. See if they have active forum
or discussion groups. Look for groups which have either ideal
prospect or people who know ideal prospects.

Shortcut to get new customer is to reach thorugh people

who know them or have already established relationship.

Create your own elevator peach to describe your business

7. Turning interest into yes

SO with all the work you have done with them now. It is time
to make them your customer. Here is the follow up sequence.
1. Send an email confirming you are getting back to them
2. You pick the time of the call with benefits and option
3. You call when you say you will, not a minute later
4. You confirm their previous interest. Tell them that you
showen interest that time we had a chat, you helped me a
lot. Currently we have 1 or 2 spots available for the service.”Is
there any reason, if we give you this product at this price, that
you wouldn’t do business with our company?”
Use “So when should we get started with implementation?”
Use “If we could give you some discount, would that
convince to go with us today?”
Use “why don’t give us a try?”
5. You close them.

Our rule for business. I have following guidelines

—————————————————————————————

My Rules For Business:

We love doing what we do and in order to make sure that

continues we have a set of Non-negotiable rules when taking
on clients:

Rule 1: Fun

Life is short, so lets enjoy it.

Rule 2: Time Is Precious

Time is a precious commodity. We value your time implicitly

and expect you to respect ours in the same manor. In that
vein, all phone appointments should be schedule at least
24hrs in advanced so we both come to the call prepped and
ready to hit the road running. I hate phone tag, I’m sure you
do to, and this all but eliminates it.

Submission deadlines – All work must be submitted between

7.30am and 11.30am each day. Anything submitted after
11.30 will go into the next days run.

Rule 3: Family

Our families come first. This works both ways, so if there’s a

time where we must choose between the two, we say lets
pick family.

Rule 4: Value of Services Given

If you want cheap, quick fixes, or for us to meet impossible

and un-realistic deadlines we’re not for you. However if you
want ultimate value, based on our years of experience,
education and expertise then we’re going to get along
brilliantly.

Rule 5: {Insert Embarrassing Guilty Pleasure}

My liking {insert embarrassing guilty pleasure} is not a crime! I

will however accept gentle mocking and the occasional
wise crack about it.

Rule 5: Flexibility

Things change, we get that. If your circumstances change

and you no longer feel you’re get maximum value from us,
we don’t want to tie you into unfair, long-term contracts.

35
All we ask is you give us 30 days notice and we can part as
friends. Likewise, if we don’t think we’re a good fit together,
we’ll let you know and work out another way of doing
business.

I here by agree to the above,

above template.

What you don’t want is to waste your time in dealing

Referrals are lifeblood of this business. Of course we can do

marketing and all the other things to get customer. A single
customer can bring you 2 more businesses, some can even
bring 6 or 7.Incentivize your ongoing customers with discount/
commission or goodies to bring more customer.Get
testimonials from them and ask for contacts for doing our
business.

Never offer free service as an incentive.

fees. Try to encourage them to book more work from you.

3. High maintenance - These will drop if you don’t work at the

relationship. Inspire them to book work with you.research the
opportunities to get back to them. Tell them about how you
can help them and reduce their time. Send them emails with
your designs.

You can have strategic partnership with following type of

There are 2 methods to outsource

1. Upwork, online.ph or freelancer.com
2. Run internship program

Upwork is the best place to outsource your business. You

need following type of freelancers to completely outsource
your business

1. Person who can generate new leads

2. Person with Client closing experience
3. Person who can handle your clients

Remember to keep each activity limited to single person.

Don’t let you whole business into hand of a single freelancer.

Running internship program

This method is very effective and new. You can run internship
opportunities on various sites like https://www.looksharp.com/,
http://www.internships.com/. Post your job details and hire
them. They are really cheap source. If you get a single
internee who is good at doing work your money is recovered.

43
Moving forward

This is it people. I have shown you the opportunity, the way and it upto it
is upto you to make it something. I assume many of you have already
bought many make money type of ebooks, and also have taken action but
have not seen a single penny. With this method I can assure you that if you
can generate atleast 6 sales you are going to earn $3000 easily. The best
things about the service is you don’t need to go to large no. of clients. Few
will generate a decent amount.
If you want to get exclusive coaching from me with this method you can
