The Goshorns Step by Step

This is the longest we’ve ever gone without a
newsletter and I apologize. Since we arrived back in
Peru we’ve been somewhat slammed. Lucky for us, The
Matthew returned to help out for 6 weeks. I’ll try to fit
what I can into this letter:)

When we arrived in Huancayo we had to hurry

and finish all the preparation for the medical team
arriving in one week. Matthew and Jerrod were able to
travel to Lima to pick up the team while I finished with
the arrangements. We transported around 40 people
to the high jungle of Andamarca. This is in the red
zone of Peru which means drug trafficking and other
things. We had over 400 people in 3 1/2 days and 40
of them were Peruvian soldiers with their commander.
This is not a common occurrence. After all the people
went through the medical process they visited the
spiritual area and talked with our spiritual leaders and
received Bibles and other information. Several of the
soldiers along with other Peruvians spoke for quite a
long time with our leaders. We had 228 people accept
Jesus as their Savior. We are now setting up a
Discipleship group for them.
Our Peruvian team kept our other programs
going while we were in the states and working in
Andamarca. When we returned to our program in
Cullpa there were no kids. We were a little surprised
and as we were leaving 40 of our kids came from
around a building to surprise us. It was a an emotional
moment.
Next we had to get the legal process done
for Zumilinda to live with us. We thought it best for
her 11 year old sister Luzmilda to also live with us.
The process is done and both parents signed the
documents. This is not an adoption. We now can
make medical decisions and more. We also
enrolled Luzmilda in the same Christian school as
Zumilinda. They seem so very happy and they
won’t eat now without praying.
We also had a week where Asbury UMC in
Kentucky helped build a house for a family of 7.
They are a very strong Christian family that could
not finish a house they had started. Dale from
Asbury did an amazing job representing the
church.
Matthew and I were able to travel to the
Jungle and get some important business done. He
was so much help and we just loved having him
here.

We humbly thank you for your continued prayers and

financial support. If you haven’t yet, we ask that you would
prayerfully consider financially supporting this ministry in
Peru. Without more financial partners this ministry can not
continue to grow. We love you all and thank you for being part
of God’s work in Peru.

We are going to be GRANDPARENTS or should I say Daniel and Audrey are going to be parents?
It’s so hard to believe that the little boy that traveled with me to Peru 11 years ago is going to be a DAD. I
know without a doubt that he and Audrey will be awesome parents. They are due in February of 2019.
Please keep them in your prayers.

How much can we love our children?

Thinking of our children and now a grandbaby coming has made me think of how much I love my
kids. John 3: 16 tells us “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” I feel like no one can love their children more than I
love mine, but the Lord has topped me. I’ve heard people say how can the mother of Zumilinda and
Luzmilda give them up like she did. She let them go and live with foreigners 8 hours away. She must not
love them very much. I think it’s the very opposite. It’s because she loves them so much that she has done
this. She knows that they will receive food that she can’t provide, warm beds that she can’t provide, security
and medical attention that she can’t provide. We are doing everything we can to keep her involved, but it’s
not the same as living with and providing for your children. Could I do this, I don’t know. The thing is I
don’t have to. And most of you don’t either. We see the poor and work with them but we’ll never know the
pain and sorrows they have. The Lord has put this family in our life and we’ll do our best to glorify Him.
Please keep this family in your prayers.

1 John 3:17 “If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on
them, how can the love of God be in that person?”

need Him, second we need the Body of Christ. We will never be
