Introduction

As a new teacher there are many curriculum standards and professional standards to

consider. The curriculum and professionals standards are set up to ensure the students are

learning the required curriculum and teachers are following guidelines that ensure they are

proceeding in a proper and ethical manner. The standards are set up to help the students and the

teachers. In this section, I discuss the curriculum standards and professional standards that

apply to the artifacts I have included in this portfolio. The standards included in this portfolio

include INTASC Standards, NYS Code of Ethics for Educators, Ontario Teacher Ethical

Standards, P-12 NYS Common Core Learning Standards(ELA, math and Social Studies, NYS

Students(ISTE), International Literacy Association (ILA) Professional Standards and Council for

Exceptional Children (ECE). I have created my artifacts with these curriculum standards and

professional standards in mind. There is a chart provided below for easy reference between my

artifacts and the curriculum standards and professional standards.
