Tank Welding Sequence

 For welding of tank shell courses, consider using welding electrodes like 6010 instead of low-
hydrogen rod like 7018. The low-hydrogen rod generates more heat thus causing more contraction
and therefore more distortion.

 Generally, the sequence is as follows:

o 1. Erect 1st course, setting and tack weld
o 2. Erect 2nd course setting and tack weld
o 3. Erect 3rd course setting and tack weld
o 4. Weld vertical seam of 1st course
o 5. Weld Horizontal between 1st and 2nd course
o 6. Erect 4th course and tack weld
o 7. Weld vertical seam of 2nd course
o 8. Weld Horizontal between 2nd and 3rd course
o 9. continue the pattern
