Page 2 of 11 inproces> Educational Programmes sralning@inprocessaroup.com Introduction In a Naphtha Reformer unit, the effluent from the catalytic reformer reactor needs to be stabilized before further processing. After cooling it down, the stream is flashed in a separator to ‘obtain a rich hydrogen stream (part of which, after recompression, Is recycled back to the reaction section) and a liquid product stream that will be stabilized in a distillation column. Learning Objectives The contents of the module will help users to understand how to install, connect and solve “easy to setup” unit operations. Assuming that the student knows already how to set up a Fluid Package, the guided ‘exercises will show how to install unit operations of four different types: Simplified heat exchange devices: Cooler, Heater Flash Separators: 2-phase separator Piping equipment: Tee Rotating equipment: Pump, Compressor ‘At the end of the module It is expected that students would have learned how to use unit operations in their simulation models to calculate stream conditions and power requirements to accomplish certain process working conditions. The operations in use can be defined with a much higher degree of rigorousness but, for the objectives of the module and current students knowledge, they have been defined in a simpler way. Further enhancements will be discussed in future modules. Workshop ‘Through a guided practice the below flowsheet will be constructed. ‘There are @ number of ways to install unit operations into your flowsheet. The operations that are available depend on where you are currently working (main flowsheet, template subflowsheet, or column subflowsheet). Iryou are in the main flowsheet or template environments, all operations are available, except those associated specifically with the column, such as febollers and condensers. A smaller set of operations is available within the column subflowsheet. {INPO1-PB03-07.02 Module 3 (© 2007 Inprocess Technology & Consulting Group, S.L.
