Trace
— Attach a plain piece of parchment to
the pattern.
— With a white pencil trace the Art Deco
centre piece.
— Trace the greeting with your mapping pen
and white ink.

Emboss
— Using a relevant sized Ball tool, emboss the
traced pencil lines.
— Solid emboss the shorter petals of the
flower. Start with your Large Ball tool
(4.5mm) and work downwards in size to
your Small Ball tool (1.5mm). See step 1.

Grid work
— Using Multi Grid No. 4 and your Small Ball tool,
emboss the areas marked ‘Y’, according to grid
A. See step 2.
— Using Multi Grid No. 28 and your One
Needle tool, perforate a row in the area
marked ‘Z’ according to grid B. See step 2.

Perforate
— With your Two Needle perforating tool
perforate inside the areas marked ‘X’,
inside of the longer flower petals,
the inside the flower centre and around the
outline of the whole design.

Lesley’s Top Tips!

“When embossing, start with a light pressure and leave to rest for around 20 minutes. Then emboss again lightly.
Repeat this until the parchment has an even, smooth, white finish, with no grey patches.”
“You should use the largest embossing tool that will fit in the space being embossed. You can follow up with a smaller embossing tool to get clean edges.”

PCA
Bold Straight FlexiDuo Grid
Bold Four Needle perforating tool

And
White ink and pen with fine nib
Black felt tip pen with fine point
Four black brads
Black insert card
Red insert card

Perforate
— Before tracing the pattern, place the
parchment on your Bold Straight Grid and
perforate an oblong border (64 holes wide x
130 holes long).
— Inside this oblong perforate another two
rows.

Trace
— Place the parchment over the pattern,
centralising the design inside the perforated
border.
— With a white pencil, trace the oblong frame
around the picture and the smaller panel
containing the sentiment.
— Use white ink to trace everything else
including the sentiment.

Emboss
— Turn the parchment to work on the reverse
and with your Extra Small Ball tool or Scriber
emboss the pencilled lines.
— Starting with your Medium Ball tool and
working down to your Small Ball tool,
emboss the bird’s wings and tail feathers.
Note - The bird’s body isn’t embossed but is
coloured on the reverse with a white pencil,
around the oval markings and up to the tail
feathers.

Judith’s Top Tip!

“To speed up the perforating process use
a Four Needle tool, rather than a
One Needle tool.”

Judith’s Top Tip!

“If you experience problems with tracing, remember to keep your pen
upright so the nib doesn’t ‘spread out’ giving you a thick line.
Dipping the nib in clean water and drying before re-dipping into the ink
will help to stop it clogging or blotting.”

design from the parchment.

each corner into crosses.

tape.
— Trim to leave a similar sized border.
