‘echanical-hydraulic governors combine in & single unit the speed sensor and actuator necessary for prime mover control. The speed sensor is engine driven and uses our well-known flyweight design to control a hydraulically powered actuator having high work output. Selecting the governor with sufficient work capacity to operate the fuel control or fuel racks is extremely important to the reliability and quality of the control system’s operation, The maximum work output of the governor is its “rated work capacity.” However, the governor should be selected on the basis of its “useful work capacity,” which normally is calculated as two thirds of the rated capacity. Selection of a droop or isochronous control depends primarily upon the application and the extent and duration of load excursions. A droop governor is adjusted so that engine speed and generator frequency at full load are maintained at, for example, 1,800 rpm and 60 Hz, At no load, they are 1,890 rpm and 63 Hz. Isochronously + operating governors, on the other hand, will maintain exactly the same engine speed and generator frequency at full load, no lod, and any other load condition. ‘The SG, TG-13 and TG-17 governors meet NEMA “A” requirements. All other governors which follow meet NEMA “D" requirements. OEE et UG GOVERNOR Known for its rugged dependability, the UG is commonly found ‘on diesel, gas, gasoline, and dual fuel engines, and gas and steam turbines in industrial, hospital, office, and marine applications. Isochronous or droop control. Dashpot compensation. Self- contained oil sump, Minimal torsional vibration due to spring- driven oil-damped ballhead and flexible drive. It is especially useful in parallel generator set applications where alternator frequencies must be matched, or the governor operated in droop mode for load sharing. It also is commonly used for controlling the speed or power output of small diesel, gas, or gasoline engines and steam or gas turbines where remote speed setting capabilities with droop are required.
