Miguel Indurain was born in 1964 in villalva which is a town of navarra, he was a spain

cyclist, winner of five french tours and considerated one of the best cyclist of the
history. Indurain starded to practice cyclism in his native town, while he was working
with his father on the field. there he won at the age of 11 years, his first race.

In 1984 he signed by the Reynolds team, and he won the amateur spain championship
and thanks to this he became a profesional. With this team he debuted on the 1985
tour but he had to retire because he was ill.

In 1989 he became the first and only Spanish man who had won the Paris-Nice and
Critérium International. With the Banesto team, in the team which he joined in 1990, he
got his greatest successes. In this first year, during an escape with two stages to the
end, Indurain was placed as a virtual yellow jersey, but had to leave to wait for his team
boss, Pedro Delgado.In 1991 he got numerous short career victories and he finally won
the Tour with a lot of authority. The following year he won the tour other time.

In 1993 he ran a time trial of the Tour with a 40th fever, because of that he couldn´t win
the stage, but not the complete tour. He got oyher victory in the Giro, and he became
an invincible cyclist in the long races. In 1994 and 1995 he returned to win the Tour
and other minor competitions.

In 1996 he took the way of his sixth Tour. He manifested for the first time some
weakness in the mountain and was less effective in the time trial stages. The Tour
escapes him, and it begins to rumor about his intentions to retire.He retired in the 2 of
january of 1997.

Induráin's ability and physical size was of 1.88 and 80 kilograms and his pulse at rest
was about 28 and 36.

In conclusion: Induráin won five consecutive Tours de France from 1991 to 1995, the
fourth, and last, to win five times. He was the youngest rider ever to win the Spanish
amateur national road championship, when he was 18, at 20 the youngest rider to lead
the Vuelta a España, and at 20 he won a stage of the Tour de l'Avenir.
