Overview
The FactoryTalk® Historian Site Edition (SE) application provides you with the data capture, management,
and analytical capabilities to help generate improved decision­making. ​ Plant supervisors can view individual
historical data for machines, process equipment, or production lines on demand. Production supervisors
can analyze batch operations for an individual site against ente​rprise­wide corporate production
parameters. Enterprise managers can compare KPIs among locations. This application helps locate and
correct sources of inefficiencies quickly. This helps you manage manufacturing consistency, energy use,
first­pass quality, and other factors that can improve the bottom line.

FactoryTalk® Historian SE Servers — Advanced Server Option

FactoryTalk® Historian SE Servers — Advanced Server Option
FactoryTalk® Historian SE Advanced Server License adds the following capability: Data Access (OPC DA
and HDA servers, OLE DB Provider, JDBC data provider and web services), Advanced Computation Engine
(ACE), and Notifications for using Microsoft® Lync Unified Communication Server. The Advance Server
Option also included data access interfaces for OLEDB, JDBC and Web Services for accessing the
Historian data. New with this release is a separate catalog item for the OLEDB and OPC DA/HDA
connectivity. The catalog information is listed in the table below.

The Data Access components (OLEDB, JDBC, Web services, etc), require client licensing to consume data
from the Historian database. The licensing model is similar to SQL Server licensing from Microsoft where
there are two options: CAL ­ named user based and CAL – unlimited users. With the purchase of Advanced
Server Option (9518­HSEADV) or OLEDB Connectivity (9518­HSEOLEDB) you will get the following client
licensing:

5 named users CAL license OR
Unlimited users CAL license (ONLY for FT Historian SE ­ 250 tags or 500 tags)

The FactoryTalk Historian clients are only available in named user mode. The concurrent licenses are no
longer available except for the existing customers who had purchased the concurrent licenses with their
