A. Motivation (11/3)
The day prior to my implementation I will begin my motivation by having the children paint their cups
brown so that they have time to dry before decorating them
I will cover each table (4) with old newspapers
I will give them all cups at their seats
I will give each table (4) a plate with brown paint
I will give each student a paint brush
I will instruct them to paint the entire outside of the cup brown and then raise their hand when they
are done
I will say, "These cups will be turned into turkeys next time I see you!"
I will tell them they may begin
I will set the cups on the counters to dry on papers with their names on it so I know whos is whos
B. Steps (11/6)
1. I will cover the tables with newspaper
2. I will have a picture of a real turkey up on the smartboard
3. I will set all the cups with the paper with their names on the tables
4. I will instruct the children (and assist if needed) the children to find their names and sit at the table
where their name is
5. I will tell them to glue two eyes wherever they want their turkeys to have eyes
6. I will walk around and encourage the children and help when needed
7. I will give them each a beak and tell them to glue their beak on where they want the beak
8. I will give them each a beard and tell them to glue their beard on where they want the beard on their
turkey
9. I will put a bowl full of feathers on each table and tell them to put feathers around the top of the cup,
gluing on the inside and having the feathers stuck out at the top (I will demonstrate how the feather
should be glued to the cup)
10. I will walk around and encourage the children and assist if needed
11. I will put a bowl of ribbons (already cut) at each table
12. I will instruct the children to glue the ribbons at the bottom of the cup so that they hand and can blow
in the wind (I will demonstrate how they are to be glued)
13. I will instruct the children to raise their hands when they are done gluing the feathers and ribbons and
I will lay them on the counter to dry on their labeled papers
Conclusion
I will go around the room and ask each child to show me/the class their turkey and tell me/the class
about it
I will ask questions such as how many feathers/ribbons they put on their turkey
I will tell applaud them for their creative work
Transition
The Turkey Dance – while I clean up and put away materials
I will say, "I am going to play this song and I want you to dance just like they tell you to on the video,
like a turkey!"
