Factors such as the devaluation against the dollar have increased the imports
that Colombia makes, since prices have risen. It can be said that 28% of the
food consumed by Colombians are imported and although 2016 was the year
with the lowest import index, the figures are still alarming and the products that
we bring from other countries are baffling, since they are the same ones that
long ago, were the main export source of the country.
Imports decreased this year by 5.4% compared to the year 2015 in the month of
May. The sums went from US $ 4,439 million to US $ 3,584 million in the
current year.
Below we list the products that Colombia imported in 2015 and the amount
invested in this operation:
Greases and oils: imported from Bolivia and Spain, for the sum of US
$ 203 million.
Legumes: like carrots, beets, lettuce and onions. For the sum of US $
