To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter on behalf of Mr. Adam Cardoso who I have known as a student-athlete for
over a year and a half. Adam was a student in my United States History class at El Capitan High
School during the school year of 2017-18. In class, Mr. Cardoso conducted himself with respect
toward his fellow classmates and showed an interest in the subject matter by earning one of the
highest grades in the class.

Adam always came to class prepared and ready to learn. He is both a team leader and a team
player completing group and individual projects and assignments with excellence. He shows
thoughtfulness in his responses and is a joy to have in class. Besides earning a 3.8 grade point
average in his course work, he is an accomplished athlete.

During his time at El Capitan High School, Mr. Cardoso was a member of the Men’s Varsity
Basketball team. Although Adam moved to another high school for his senior year, he quickly
became an integral part of his new team. During his free time, Adam loves to coach youth sports. I
can truly say Adam is a positive youngman even when he faces adversity. He quickly finds
solutions and rises above difficulties.

I admire Mr. Cardoso’s character and work ethic. He will be the first in his family to attend a
university where he hopes to continue his hoop dreams by being a collegiate student-athlete. He
will be pursuing a degree in business, hoping to one day manage or run a corporation or city. I
have no doubt he will succeed.

Without hesitation, I highly recommend Mr. Adam Cardoso for the scholarship your outstanding
organization is offering as he is truly a standout student-athlete. If you have any questions, please
feel free to contact me at spetty@muhsd.org.
Sincerely

Sheila Petty
