Content Issue:
SDD machine is not functioning as intended.
· SDD will not launch from the main screen using the SDD button.
· SDD will not read the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) from the vehicle.
· SDD displays a message “Invalid VIN Entered”
Cause:
SDD allowed a JAVA update to be installed. This JAVA update is not compatible with SDD.

Action:
1. Check JAVA version on your SDD machine.
2. If JAVA version 6.26 is installed this SSM does not apply.
3. If JAVA version 7 is installed, uninstall JAVA7.
4. Download JAVA 6.26
5. Install JAVA 6.26

You may need administrator privileges to remove programs.

All levels of JAVA above “JAVA 6 update 26” need to be uninstalled from SDD

To check the version of JAVA.

1. Click Start
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select Programs
4. Click Programs and Features
6. If JAVA 7 is listed move to “Windows 7 - Uninstall Programs” below.

Windows 7 - Uninstall Programs

1. Click Start
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select Programs
4. Click Programs and Features
5. Click on the level of JAVA that is necessary to be uninstalled.
6. Click the Uninstall button.
7. Programs and Features message box will shown
8. Select “Yes”
9. Do step 5 again for all levels of JAVA above “JAVA 6 update 26”

To download JAVA 6 update 26.

1. Disconnect any communication devices from the SDD machine.
2. Navigate to the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) screen.
3. Select “Continue” on the SDD Warning screen.
4. Select “Settings” tab on the top right of the screen.
5. Select “System Utilities” tab on the top middle of the screen
6. Select “Manual Patch Update”.
7. A pop-up will appear for Manual patch selection dialog box.
8. Enter “MP_JAVA_6_26” in the Manual patch selection dialog box.
9. Select “OK”
10. The Software Manager wizard will then download the fix file from the server.
11. Select “OK” in the Manual patch update information screen.
12. Select “OK” when the “Please shut down SDD before continuing” message appears.
13. Select “Unzip” in the WinZip Self extractor box.
14. Select “OK” when “1 file unzipped successfully" message appears.
15. Select “Close” in the WinZip Self extractor box.

To install JAVA 6 update 26 on Windows 7.

1. Click “Start”
2. Select “Computer”
3. Open “Local Disk (C:)”
4. Open “Program Files”
5. Open “JLR”
6. Open “MP_JAVA_6_26.zip”
7. Double-Click on “jre-6u26-windows-i586.exe”
8. A WinZip Caution pop up box will appear, Select “Yes”
9. A Java Setup - Welcome pop up box will appear, Select “Install”
10. A Java Setup - Progress pop up box will appear with status bar
11. A Java Setup - Complete pop up box will appear, Select “Close”
