Introduction
One of the problems that most occur in a company are electrical losses. The normal
operation of the installation and that these are related to the maintenance of equipment
and facilities, as well as the lifetime of the appliances.
The electrical losses are equivalent to the difference between the energy purchased and
the energy sold can be classified as technical and non-technical losses.
The main problems or the most common is that to get electricity from the generator to the
user, it must be driven by a transmission and distribution network which travel several
kilometers and when traveling these distances generate an electrical loss. Which becomes
heat energy. This phenomenon is known as the Joule effect [1].
For the detection of said electrical losses, the following shall be taken into account:
• Joule losses.
• Electrical losses.
• Quality of the electrical installation.
The project to be carried out consists of detecting the aforementioned problems that cause
a very large economic and energy demand in the company in order to implement
proposals to generate lower consumption which will be reflected in the company's fund
and in the environmental aspect .

Pesca Azteca S.A. of C.V.

Pesca Azteca was founded in 1984 with the acquisition of 2 tuna vessels with the objective
of supplying the raw material for its subsidiary PINSA, leader of the Mexican tuna market
and with close to 4,000 employees.
Our purse seine fishing method allows us to have large sizes in inventory throughout the
year, our product being highly valued in all segments and, our name, a guarantee of
service and compliance. The strict adherence to the processes of quality and safety,
through an automated control of refrigeration temperatures, are guaranteed by obtaining
the certification to export to the European Union.

Located in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, a port with maritime transportation service, our products
proudly arrive at the tables of the best sellers in Mexico, Latin America, Asia, Europe and
Africa.

worldwide, with quality products and the most competitive costs in the industry, through
continuous improvement, technological innovation and investments in our fleet and
production processes, as well as with the staff development and training that maximizes
the profitability of the business.

objective
• To be a world leader in the sale and extraction of tuna.
• Having the proper efficiency for the operation and commercialization of the product.
• Obtain quality and the most competitive costs of industrial products.
Department description "Industrial Safety"
The industrial security department has 61 elements that are responsible for the security of
the company and the boats that the company has in its possession.
The main functions of the department or industrial safety area can be summarized as
follows:
• Review and approve security policies.
• Perform periodic safety inspections.
• Establish adequate safety standards, they must agree with the legal provisions.
• Start up and improve the security program.
• Advise on security problem.
• Deal with the control of occupational diseases.
• Advise on environmental problems.
• Identify the health risks that exist.
• Execute the first aid plan.

Justification
It is very common to find problems in the electrical system of a company, so it is important
the continuous maintenance of the electrical area and its equipment, the most common
problems are the losses and electrical leaks that can be due to bad installation of wiring,
to a bad care of the devices and installation as well as the useful life of these which can
be of great risk for people, besides that it entails an additional cost that goes directly to
the monetary fund of the company. It is necessary to conduct energy studies to detect and
avoid this type of problems that could harm the company as well as its staff.
Scope
This project will be carried out in the Pesca Azteca workshops sector due to the large
number of electrical appliances and machinery where it is more prone to find the
aforementioned problems.
General purpose
Make a study of the quality of electrical installations in Pesca Azteca workshops
Specific goal
Find problems in the company in terms of electrical installations according to the NOM-
001-SEDE-2012 "ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS", as well as offer a proposal to
reduce energy consumption and costs.

Evaluation of the Internship

1.-Strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths:
 Knowledge about three-phase motors.
 Skills to recognize technical files.
 Determine the watts from the OHM law.
 Correct handling of devices to perform the electrical evaluation.
Weaknesses
 Little information about new formulas to evaluate electrical losses.
 Almost zero information about line 440.
2.- On the part of the company a pair of dielectric boots was granted for each
practitioner since in Pesca Azteca to carry out tours it is necessary to carry these, also
shirts with logo to identify being part of the staff.
 As for the courses to conduct the study of electrical losses, there were none for
what I had to review, this equipment was not provided by gloves or helmets for
personal use.
3.- As soon as what I learned in these internships was:
 Work as a team
 Perform study of electrical losses
 Do an energy study in lamps
 Innovate and make proposals
 Work under pressure
 How industrial safety works and its important role
 Using new devices and tools
 The importance of following instructions
Conclution and recommendations
 To improve the electrical installation (wiring) in order to reduce personnel risks
and avoid future electrical leaks, it is recommended to use E.MT type protective
tubes. OR I.M.C.
 Change damaged and / or old equipment to lower consumption equipment
(appliances that are more than 10 years old).
 Change or repair damaged cables (depending on their condition and useful life
time).
 Disconnect devices when they are not in use, to avoid consumption in "stand
by".
 Continuous maintenance in A / C.
 Clean the exterial side in engines to optimize cooling.

Processes

Tuna fishing
Tuna fishing takes place in daylight and begins with the helicopter overflight, which
transports each of the missions, and locates the tuna schools from the air.
Once in the area, maneuvers begin for the haul of the purse seine, which is approximately
two kilometers long and 190 meters deep. Speedboats guide the fish towards the center of
what will be a circumference. The sailors lower the compass (small boat) with one end of
the mesh and the boat continues sailing with the other end to form a large circle that, when
pulled, becomes a sort of bag that traps the fish.
Before the lifting of the net, a maneuver is carried out so that the dolphins escape, even
when loaded by the divers. Then the network is contracted with a powerful hydraulic
system, and the fish start to rise in a kind of "mechanical bucket".
Finally, the tuna is deposited in cooling tanks at a temperature of minus 18 degrees Celsius
Repair of boats.
When a blow or deterioration of the sheet occurs in some of the fishing boats, it is very
common to take them to the repair center, called the shipyard. Before being taken to this
place, some inspections are carried out first, such as:
• State of the sheet

• Sheet thickness

• Sheet dimension

Once the above factors have been analyzed and an anomaly is found at some point it is
important to fix the problem by installing the ship at the shipyard, which is located
approximately 800m from the PINSA pier. Then, to install the boat in the shipyard it must
be placed under some pistons which are placed in strategic points to be easily uploaded. If
not, this will be accommodated with cranes.
When boarding correctly, the boat will be arranged by authorized Aztec fishing personnel.
Finally, when the ship is repaired, it is returned to the dock to return to work in it.
Industrial Security
• Identify hazards in specific areas
• Improve work procedures
• Eliminate errors in the execution process in a specific activity.
• Operation Policies of the Procedure

Before a labor is done, it must to be acepted by the industrial safety department.

First they get the request of doing a labor by one of the workers. Then the industrial security
team go check the if there is no danger of any type. Biological, enviromental, or anything
else than can make an explotion or pollute the water. for this they use ver especific tools.
Finally Once this is done, they let the workers do their job.
In case of an accident, everyone start helping to mitigate the problem.
